2 questions.

if i were to get a RBTA how big should the anemone be for a 3 in. clown.

secondly, i was thinking of trying to get a mate for my cinnamon clown. how small should the other clown be to help eleviate aggression. the one im looking at is about an inch, maybe a lil less.

Thanks

i dont know if there is an exact size, im sure someone can have an estimte, but as long as the anemone is large enough to hold two of the same clowns i would say (since you only have 1). but just make sure its not larger just by a little bit. some of these anemone fish like to beat down on the anemones pretty bad. maybe double the size of the clowns

how large is the original clown?

in that case just get get it something smaller than that. if you can find something in that range than its worth a try. i suggest getting something to hang on the tank so you can put the fish in to see if the clownfish will get used to it

I guess it depends on the clown. But you will need a really big one. My Clowns killed my 6 to 7 inch bta after a couple years. It got bigger for a bit like 9 inch but so did they.

Right now having success with a 3 pound or so LTA. With 1 adult and one baby. It is growing VERY well despite the punishment they give it.

Always put a small juvenile in with an adult if you want a good chance of success. Like 1.25 inch baby at night after lights out. I put my QT next to main so they could see each other for a month first. That and a huge NEM is making me happy. Would never do it again any other way...

I would measure the Nems in approximate pounds now. Diameter isn't everything. Just think Way big on Nems and have great water and light.

It depends on the type of clown, but I would want the anemone to be 2*3 times bigger, a bit more for a pair.

its a cinnamon clown. currently she is hosting my Xenia colony. the good news, its not spreading all over, she seems to be keeping it in one spot.

not that anyone REALLY cares but im goin to get my clownfish a mate. he's little, only about an inch. should be picking him up tonite. ill try and get pics and let everyone know how it works out.

ok, so its abeen alomst a week now, no aggression anymore. the little clown tries to come near the big clowns spot, but the big clown, ussually wants nothing to do with him. may chase him away a little but nothing big. so the little clown has taken up residence in my bubble coral for most of the day. think ther is a chance, over time, they will become a pair?

That sounds about normal behavior. The big one has to show the little one who's boss. :) They are supposed to do that. The little one will probably try to tag along with the bigger one. And may get chased but keep coming back. It takes time. Good luck to your paring! :)

Here's a pic of the Nem:

Thanks. :)

My baby Clarki now sleeps fin to fin in the Nem with the female. And yesterday actually let him in her nest for the first time. :)

She dug a HUGE hole in the sand behind the rocks. And the baby is now allowed to hide there too! I love watching their behavior. I feel like a dad lol.

Just give it some time and watch them. That is part of the fun.

And they seem to protect the nem as a team now. From hermit crabs that get close. Baby on left. Big one on right. Very funny to watch.
