I would liek to ask if an anemone was doing well, opening and eat for a year, then after that it started to shrink in size to nothingness in a few days what is wrong ?
What type of anemone
What size tank -- and what lights
What else do you have in the tank.
Current water parameters ( and "perfect"/"okay"/"incheck" won't
help much. )
I bought it when I just started the going for marine fish and I bought it to house my nemos then.
magnificent anemone if I am not wrong.
50 gallon tank
50gph powerhead
96 w PC
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
50 nitrate
Yeah I know the light is not enough. That was my mistake when I start out and I have learnt what anemones need. I fed the anemone once a day when I can with shrimp.
If it really is a magnificent anemone you have way to low light and flow. They are one of the most ( if not the most ) light demanding anemones. And they require large amounts of random flow.
don't have a pic sorry. But I know that there are a couple of ways an anemone can die and most see their anemone melting away. But mine shrank down to nothingness so what factor the difference in the way they die ?
People have kept anemones very healthy in tanks 46 gallons with only 2x96 pc lighting...nitrates are the main problem. Anemones feed off of zooxanthellae algae, the reason they have color is because of the algae that sticks to their tentacles...when they're stressed they shed their zooxanthellae giving them a bleached appearence.
