Anemones can cause color changes in onyx clowns

I also find that H. magnifica will keep Onyx A. percula from get as dark as they can be which will recover when they don't have an anemone or with H. crispa or S. hadoni. The most important is that my Onyx will get darker without an anemone than with a Mag

I've got two Onyx percs, or rather the offspring of an Onyx pair in Houston. They look like Ocellaris to me. :( They've been in my pico tank for about 6 months with suncorals, and then for the past two years in the angled tank in my foyer. They've been hosting in a RBTA since that tank was set up, and have almost zero black.

Let's see some pictures of your Onyx percs, please.

I will post if they darken even more, I think they will, they are in my gigantea

OK, sorry to revive an old thread but thought I would add me .02 cents here...

I picked up a little baby .25" Onyx clown (that was being hosted by a RBTA) at the LFS... We picked him because he had a bunch of black on him, a lot more so than his siblings. We've had him since May now, and he has zero black on him... He's lost everything that he had...

What is going to be interesting is that he has now taken up residence in a RBTA in my tank, so he doesn't spend as much time in the GBTA.... We'll see what happens in the coming months, if any of that color comes back or not. He's about .5" now.... I'll post updates as things happen.

It doesn't just happen to onyx I have a pair of misbar occis when I first got them they were orange now they have these blk spots on them.

Wow that's just weird. Mine lost color too. Around the same time frame. Mine have just a fine thin black line now. It's makes me wonder did these fish come from the same area?

With out an nem too! Lost him(carpet) to a boney fish. Oh so long ago.
