How long should I wait to put a nem in a new tank? I wanted an anemone to be my first invert so that it will have settled and not be moving around by the time i got corals.

What is best for Perculas?

Every tank is different so it is hard to give a time frame but as soon as it has cycled and is stable it is fine. If you are new to saltwater then I would say take your time and make sure you are able to keep fish alive for awhile first. When you have a better understanding of maintaining a reef then get the anemone. I would recommend the BTA as they are very hardy and accepted by most clowns.

When I worked for a maintence company I would set tanks up with live sand, cured live rock, and aged saltwater and then place fish, corals, and anemones in it that same day. There are no issues as long as everything is cycled and you do not overstock.

Agreed- I often have to move tanks for folks- and although sometimes there is 100% water change, as long as all the rock and sand is cycled= no problem. The key is as stated above- a stable system is whats required. I would give yourself a few months to de-bug the tank and get into your habits of care. Set up the corals you get with the idea in mind you are going o be moving them if need be when you get the anemone.
