if you can get it off the rock you can propagate it by cutting it. I have seen others that did that and the anemone lived. I don't know if you would want to risk it but it is possible.

The most common way to get a bta to split is to lower the salinity for a week or so then return it to normal. Do not lower it so much as it stress your corals just a couple of points will usualy do it.
However, not all bta's split. There are two sub-types one splits onr does not.
I do not recomend cutting a nem. I know that people have done it sucessfully but they are a lot more delicit then corals.

any thoughts on how hard it is to keep an anenome? I heard that if one dies in your tank it kills all the inhabitants.

I would like to get one, as my two clown fish are trying to live in the large hairy mushroom rock in my tank, which makes me think they need an anenome.

Thanks.

I think they are pretty easy to keep.I think good lighting is the key.I dont think it will wipe out a tank either unless you leave it in there while it decomposes.

okay. thanks.

My setup now is a 55 gallon with 4 t-5's- 54 watts each.

I am turning my 55 into a 75 in the next month or so. Will get 2 more 54 watt t-5's.

That would make 324 watts total for the 75.

Do you think that's enough lighting for an anenome?

Do I have enough now with the 4- 54 watt T5's for an anenome in my 55?

Also what kind of corals can I get into with the 75 gallon tank lighting I plan on having. I have a lot of mushrooms, xenia, and zoas. Would like something different.

Thanks Jeff.

I think you should start a new thread so you will get more peoples input.I think you will have enough to keep him alive and healthy but I'm a fan of MH

thats plenty of light for the 75 im running this tank with 7 54 watters i started with 4 then added another fixture but evberything i have still was fine with just the 4

I have done the cutting propagation 4 times now and have even done this while the nem was still on the rock. Just make sure to cut it completely and use a very sharp knife. Good luck, Tim

Hay chicken I don’t think I have the stones to cut that thing up. I saw a video on u tube were the guy is cutting one up, he wasn’t wearing gloves. Don’t they sting? If I did cut it up would it heel with the clarkie bothering it constantly? Since you've done it a few times would you be interested in doing it?
