Angelfish fans come on in...

I think he bailed on us, he's probably in bed sleeping while we've waited up to see these new angels and now we can't sleep, hitting the refresh button every 5 minutes...I need an angelfish anonymous class!

I have a suspicion that this will be WELL worth the wait...John has the abillity to get some pretty awesome stuff and I'd be willing to bet that he won't let us down ;)

Hey guys... my sincere apologies! Please understand the craziness of life with two young children along with over 1000 gallons and over 30 angelfish! :) These two new fish will get an appropriate thread with a bit of story behind it, and I don't just want to post them quickly... it's 1:45 am and I'm about to hit the sack... to tide you over until tomorrow night, I updated my emp thread here ... and here is a shot of my Apolemichthys hybrid I've had for a little while now... the old Apolemichthys "armitagei"...

Based on the tail, I'd almost say its P. imperator, but I'm going for Koran too. Don't know why..

Well, the guy said it was my 2nd guess. I just know it shows imperator genes.
Will be an awesome adult I think. Force grow that baby John!

Or just a weird looking Koran.......;)
Agreed.

At first I thought like copps. On the close up of the side, it has some black dots that we associate with Euxiphipops angels. However if you look close, the black dots weren't inform with the scales. Six Bar's, Majestics, and Bluefaces all have their dots, based off a colored scale. While a Koran has more or less 'random' dots on it's sides, which the angel in question has.

As to relation to an Imperator, everyone's opinion is as valid as mine, and some even more so, but I honestly just don't see it. Juvenile Emp's, have circular patterns on their back half. If you stare long enough at this angel, you'll notice that the blue/white/black patterns on the back half of this fish are completely random, and have no circular patterns, or actually any white stripes, commonly associated with juvi Emp's on the back half, other then the final vertical white bar.

I do agree it's got the face-shape of a Euxiphipops angel, and with the yellow stripe, the obvious 2nd parent fish guess is a Blueface.

Not to be a downer, but when this Koran grows up, I think that's what we'll see. A Koran with some yellow in the face/fins, due to it's Euxiphipops heritage.

No worries... giving your honest opinion is what I want... don't worry about being a downer... I spoke to Julian yesterday for a little while, and we thought that koran/blueface as an adult would actually be quite striking... oh and on Jeremy's comment notice the wink...

So anyway, I fired the pics off across the pond both ways last night for some input from friends I respect... interestingly I heard back from Kiyoshi Endoh, the original Japanese author of "Angelfishes of the World", and Arie De Jong, owner of a giant European wholesaler that sees tons of fish... as I've done sending it to everyone, I've left my opinions out so as not to influence theirs... I also forgot to mention the size of the fish... they both thought semicirculatus/navarchus...

Anyway... I'll update as I get more input... find me one fish that gets more varying opinions from so many experts... that alone is pretty neat... :)
