(Another) DIY LED Build - Linear Design

Anyway, 7 rows of 18 led string is enough for the 60x30? Why I saw most thread people have leds 2.5" center-center but they have 4-5" string apart?

I would think squarer would be better. I think it is once again to cut down on aluminum for the most part. katchupy can you do pictures of the two options (square vs rectangular)?

I guess I give up the 7 in a string due to XP-E Vf is 3.4V at 700mA that give me 23.8V+.5V for the Cat+.35V for the Rseries for measure current=24.65V. So leave me no room to play...Below is a sketch of 7 strings of 18 leds 3" center-center, and spacing 3.5 between string. Plan to run XP-E @700mA, XP-G@1000mA. What do you think?

So...did I read correctly, in post 491, that a fellow member is offering to lend katchupoy a PAR meter??

I for one am looking forward to seeing your readings! Getting ready to build a similar setup for my 75g mixed reef.

Hey 2hi4u2c...I'm sure I speak for may on this thread... appreciate your willingness to share!!

Looking forward to those numbers!!

eric

this is perfect because of the move, i have a spare 75 for me to play with... I will concentrate on the bottom glass reading (barebottom) and maybe another on the middle...

I assume that the par meter probe is submersible... just want to make sure so i dont kill the probe...

Im so excited... I can now say that my LED is good or CRAP... hahaha... but eitherway... my corals are responding nicely to it...

I think he is referring to your diagram. You have rows of all white and rows of all blue. You need to alternate them some so you don't have straight lines of the same color

WAIT although kcress might be right if you go back to the beginning the whole idea behind this thread is dointgstrips of one color. Given the spacing of 3.5 inches it might be fine. More important is what height and lenses?

if he doesnt send it hit me up i can send you my personal one

without optics, i am only getting a 80 par at the bottom of my tank and 200 at the top of the water but i will get optics when reefledlights does his new measurements with different brands of optics

tank is a cutdown 120 12 inchs tall
