finally going to start the upgrade of my 5.5g. my new tank is a 36g corner bowfront tank. it's basically a 24" cube cut in half, 24" deep, 34" diagonally across, and 24" tall. filtration will be a 15g, NAC6 skimmer with some rock in the sump. it will be a mixed reef. the only fish i currently have is a 2.5" onyx clown. so here is my proposed list

second clown fish
dwarf angel (lemon peel, coral beauty, flame, or potters)
pearly jawfish
midas or tailspot blenny
flasher or flame wrasse (leaning towards a McCosker's)
chalk bass (maybe)

is this too many fish? what should i keep or cut?

I would eliminate the wrasse and angels from your list - they just get too big and need more swimming room than you have in that tank. A cherub angel might work, but they're pretty territorial. Also, whatever you're going to add, I would add the second clown last. Once they pair up, they'll make it hard to add anything else.

The tailspot is an excellent choice.

Other fish you might consider: Possum wrasse, royal gramma, blue or gold assessor, watchman goby.

+1... You have a lot of rather big fish for the size of your aquarium... IMO in tank that size you want to have 1 or 2 larger fish(being 3-4 inches for that size of a tank) than everything else be under 2 inches... It will give you a much more realistic and relaxing look. It will look like a true reef, not just a bunch of fish stuck in a box.

:)

any other fish i should consider in there? looking for something active and colorful. also need something easy to feed. i'm out of town on business a good bit so i load my feeder with flakes and pellets at the beginning of the week and im good to go...
