Another use for Joes Juice

I have encrusting Xenia in the tank which I hate. They damamge my sps and grow like weeds. They were all over a 50 lb rock that I couldnt take out, and didnt want to scrub them off inside the tank. So yesterday out of desperation I turned off all the pumps and powerheads, and waited for them to really start pulsing which took a few minutes. Then I covered them real well with two siringes of the stuff, and this morning they were gone. Tank looks great, skimmer is pulling out great junk, and I have more space for my sps!!

Just thought I would pass it on in case anyone wants to stop the spread without disturbing their tank

Thanks I have been fighting xenia take over for a while now . I was thinking of steaming them but this sounds better .

I must say thank you .I used it last night and this morning most of the xenia I put it on was gone . I have two types of xenia and it worked very well .

Works on colt type leathers too. I learned that on accident.

A method of killing Aiptasia and Majana anemones in aquariums comprises filling a dispenser with an anemone killing mixture, comprising purified water, and effective amounts of calcium hydroxide and non-iodized salt, placing a tip of the filled dispenser near a mouth of an anemone and dispensing a small amount of the mixture such that it is consumed by the anemone. An anemone killing mixture comprises effective amounts of calcium hydroxide and non-iodized salt dissolved into and mixed in boiling purified water.

Woo Hoo!!! I will have to go out and get some!! My nano has Stars out the <BEEP> and ever time I move the rock it is all over another rock ahh!! I don't mind the Starts in there but once it hit my shrooms it kills them off :mad

Thanks guys for the tip!! I also have Xenia in the tank but I can kind of keep it in control. Knocking on wood!!

Can you do this with Pickling lime, and RO water then?

Yep, and some salt mix. Not sure how the salt mix helps or if it's just added as a way to be different for the patent to get approved.

Do you know how much of each? I'm going to try it with out Salt and see if it works. Do you think you need to boil it?

When using kalk paste and Joe's Juice for killing aiptasia note that it's important to cover all parts of the anemone completely with the paste or juice. Any little piece that breaks off can form a new aiptasia.

I'd say about 80 percent of the people who get berghia nudibranchs from us have made their aiptasia problems much worse by using Joes Juice and kalk paste and some of the other home made mixtures.
