Gives Bad Advice.
Title says it all. It's a ~120 5ft tank. Reef.
I believe any Anthias will do well with my livestock.

I'm curious as to which will ship easiest, has less likely hood of disease(I'll be QTing), and which are hardiest/most peaceful.

Which would you choose?

I had a difficult time getting resplendent to eat. I haven't tried Randall's, but I have success with lyretail and bimacs.

Are u set on just those two?

The ones I got from live aquaria all died. Not sure why.

I prefer the look of these. They're very similar between the two. If I didn't go with these, I'd probably go with Lyretails... but again.. these are more appealing to me.

They do look similar, yup. I think the pseudanthias genus is fairly hardy compared to the other ones, but I failed with 4 resplendents. The males definitely are nice. Good luck

Anything that you feel contributed to that or any advice?

The two species are almost indistinguishable and husbandry essentially identical. I think the Randalls males are slightly more attractive, though don't expect them to look in person like so many of the photos. They both seem suceptible to body ulcerations which can decimate a newly acquired group. If arrived healthy, frequent feedings in QT with smaller fare works pretty well. They need to get to about 2" in order that they'll compete sucessfully for food in the display if you keep larger, aggressive fish like tangs.

To my failure? I think the low flow in the qt rank did not help. They just wouldn't eat. Cyclops, mysis, pods, nothing.

I found with my lyretail and now bimacs, high flow helps a lot. It "stimulates" them, for lack of better word. I have nine bimacs in a 12-15 gallon sterilite tub right now, a heater and a Jebao WP25 on reef mode. The high flow may stimulate the type of current they're used to and everytime I drop in food they take it: first it was shredded mysis, then whole mini mysis, frozen pods, shredded plankton, smashed pellets (some).

The high flow may mimic food suspended in the water column as it passes by them. They eat a lot! I'm not using PVC or anything in the TTM tank either.

I have Randalls and chose them mainly because the males are exquisite. They look exactly like the pictures seen, but only when flashing/courting the females..............this happens often throughout the day but mostly in the final evening hours.

Try to avoid more than one male as the sub dominant males take on a more bland coloration.

Here's a nice write up on Randalls----------

I'm about to pull the trigger on this from LA. Randall's show at $50/ea for mediums.

But now I see majority selected Resplendents. I don't think anyone mentioned this in the comments.

Last minute bump.

Resplendents are pretty. I like them. If you get them, I hope they'll eat. Try the high flow and small food. $50/Anthias is kinda steep for me, I was offered Ventralis at $60 each (wholesale cost after the LFS still made some money, on special so I figure their cost was $35-40) and they're way prettier than Randall's.
