any "old time" SPS folks still visit this forum?

There are a lot of pros to what aquacultured frags have done for SPS keeping, but sometimes I miss the days when we talked more about species names than fancy trade names.

Nothing like coming home from the LFS with a browned out Acropora and wondering what it might turn out like :D

It's good that we have all the aquaculutred stuff but sometimes I can't help feel its more like a sweet shop nowaways and some SPS tanks are like collecting top trumps cards!

Still here and kicking.... I agree with Gary, it's very nice to see all of these old names again.

Keith - I hope it's a short break! ;) I'm assuming the tank and equipment are stored away around the house somewhere?

Hey Jeremy. I hope it is a short break as well. The tank and equipment are gone but of course my mind has wandered on occasion about what my next setup might look like :)

I had a short break, but I am over the 10 year mark. Several tanks in several houses. It has been a long decade.

Great thread, very interesting! I'm an SPS newbie- only 4 yeas SPS experience. I'm mostly a lurker but I can't express how much can be learned from you "old timers." I understand that you don't want to post much for fear of flaming but we can learn more from you guys in five minutes than we can in months of reading on the forums. This thread is great, I'll have to bank the usernames and pay close attention when I see a post from one of you. Thank you for the years of input and dedication. Please post whenever you feel remotely inclined- we need your input!

Reefbum, I followed your last build closely, researched your 03 build to the extent I could and am waiting patiently for your next incredible creation.

I'm Still around, still have the first cnidarian I ever bought. A sebae anemone going on 15 years now. I also have clones of Ricordia, sinularia and sarcophyton that came from GARF over a decade ago! Also have a hydnophora and Montipora from reefer madness. Worked in the industry for several years in college 2003-2006 got out and did construction and am somehow just recently finding myself back in the industry. Have been working for a few years on a greenhouse and its starting to look like it may pan out. Just got back from Honolulu where I saw the work of Charles dalbeek and Bruce Carlson although neither of them work at the Waikiki aquarium anymore it was fun to see what two of the biggest names when I had started In the hobby In the late 90's had built, amazing aquarium by the way!! I don't post for the same reasons as others not interested in getting blasted for my technique by some noob when I have animals older than a decade proving in know what im talking about...plus I don't stay on top of all the trends. I have no clue what zeovit is and I can recall when many of the fancy $60 per polyp Zoanthids were sold for $60 for the colony they were just assorted Zoanthids that a dealer had to move...ah the old days

I find most sps junkies to be lifers. Sps takes true passion or most would just give up. I thought I had sps down after two short years. .. haa! As Lee Corso would say. ."not so fast my friend" I'm working on it though. I'm a Lifer. Long live sps! I hope lol. Great thread.

Sticks for life!

I'm rebooting my tank due to pests and a lack of love for acrylic.

Tis be true... You get that taste of salt.. It never goes away.

Hell, I went as far as becoming a Master diver so There wasnt a reef or wreck I couldnt dive.
