Any shooters on here??

I was going to get my CCW but I could not find an inside waistband holder that would accommodate a pistol with a Picatinny mounted blind cane :-)

Any new gun owners here during this pandemic?

My sister and her crazy husband went out and bought a Springfield Armory XD 9 and a Remington 12 gauge. They were worried that after the elections there would be some huge riot in their area - they lived in freakin La Canada. My bro and I told her that her husband is likely to injure one of their kids so they better do a good job of locking them up. And seriously if neither of them have ever shot a gun before what kind of gun shop sells them a 12 gauge?

I think that's like every gun shop LOL I would say 75% of the people buying guns have never fired one but we all start somewhere. There is a firearm safety card requirement which is more than most states but I don't think that really has any bearing on safety also they require a lock to be sold with every gun which also is more than most states so overall they're probably not in as bad a position as you might think

Training and practice is about 1000X more important than whatever particular tool you chose.

Please make sure they are aware of that.

But as to what kind of shop sells them a 12, the same as a car dealership that sells a car to a 20 year old. Or a bar that sells booze to an alcoholic. Or a box cutter to a terrorist.

No I get it. My dad is a Vietnam vet and all of us (with the exception of that sister) have grown up shooting. The husband went to Turners and literally said I know nothing about guns but I need to buy a pistol and a rifle for me and my wife and those are the guns he ended up with.

That's sad. I worked at a gun store for about 5 years managing the machine guns and assault rifles.

They required you to demonstrate the ability to clear the weapon and basic takedown and and operation or they literally did not let you leave the building with it.

Demonstrating the basic operation of the weapon is still a requirement in order to take the weapon home they usually will make you load the magazine chamber a dummy round eject the dummy around and clear the weapon apply though Loc

When they first started the safety test I got all redneck "muy rights Muy rights!"

But then I took the test and I was like: Yea, anyone that can't pass this shouldn't have a gun.
rhkingsfan, hopefully they take it seriously and get some training.... on the bight side, they probably can't find ANY ammo for it now days.

Like Christmas with no batteries for your new toys LOL

And I totally agree if you can't pass the FSC test and you can't pass the function test then you definitely don't deserve to own one.

If you guys really want to get excited picture a blind man buying a gun because I totally do that regularly :-)

Yea, but you know what you're doing and you are competent.

As for ammo, 9mm is going for $1.00 a round on gunbroker for white box if you can get it.... which you can't in California; de-facto ammo shipping ban.

SPP are going for 10 cents each and they sell immediately. Normally I buy at $218/5,000 2.36 cents each
