Anyone else hate the new RC?

I really miss the profile info where it states what size tank each person has.

But the searching is amazing!
I hope this new system speeds up nightly backups because I hate those.
They should partition the backups so some forums can be open while they back up others...

Two different things are going on here that you need to separate.

"Before", your browser was doing that auto-fill. RC was not. Your browser was remembering what you've typed in those fields. This has nothing to do with RC. That information/history was stored in your browser, so it is faster because it's local. I'm not sure why your browser is not doing this anymore because mine still does. I saw no impact from the upgrade.

What you are also seeing now is RC pushing that information back and giving you suggestions based on what's in our database. Much like when I go to my Google toolbar and start typing things and it tries to predict what I'm typing.

By the way, why do you do a manual search to find your posts? Why don't you just click on your name and "find posts by user"? Or better yet, use My RC to manage your subscribed threads?
 
Mac, why don't you just subscribe or use the "Find more posts by this user" feature? Unless you're also entering a search term along with the username search you're just taking the long way about searching your posts.

The profile is still there. Just click on a name, and view their profile.

People could also add that information to a signature line if they really want it out front like that.
 
Wish they would post a sticky of all the new features instead of having to look for things ourself.
The new interface does look nice, it will take some time to get used to it but that's like any other interface upgrade.
The red house thing was quite usefull and that's what I miss the most.
 
Ha my thread's still going strong. Just wanted to clarify, I was frustrated with the new site at first but now I'm totally stoked on it.

BTW I lined up a new buyer for my chiller, at a lower price, but I'm still stoked all the same.

If it's an available option for us to do that, we can, but it would be a low priority right now.
If we would have to hack the software to do it, we're not going that way.
Like I said, you can add your own signature line with that information.
 
I like the newer version, upgrading always takes some getting used to but eventually find out the better things about the newer version. I have a question though, how do you change the letters under your user name? Instead of premium member, replace it with somethings else for example?
 
2 thing: Here's a shortcut to another post in another thread. I think Melev or someone. Was asking how to point people to posts.
Also, I'm getting together all features we know how to do from testing over there in that section.
Then I'll write step by step directions for all of us in an easy to follow format to use some features.

I notice that there's two or three different ways to do all the stuff mentioned in this and other threads. And multitudinous threads about them, so currently it's catch as one can for most folks. I'm getting lots of PM's from folks to test with them and it's a big help. I love the new features, there's so many cool things.

I am an admin on my club's website, we have been using this software for a year now. We love it, so many possibilities. We have an arcade built in also. You can update your signature by pressing the User CP button on the upper left.

ADMIN,

Will you be allowing the Premium Members to post HTML in there Sigs. This is an option since there is distinctive groups. I would like to see HTML so we can add the url to our controlers and display our tank stats....

That can be a fairly dangerous thing if not properly controlled. Spammers can inject malicious HTML in there and they've done it before here, that's why we shut it off. We're looking at all the features but that's one we have to be very, very careful about because we're a big board and a big target for the spammers and hackers.

We had much debate about it on our site before we allowed it. You already have the foundation set as you can turn on and off the option for different groups. Registered members can not post HTML. Only paying premium members can post HTML. This is how I set it up on our club. Spammers can not post the HTML becuase they do not become paying memebers, this is a process that you guys spend a few days approving.

When you go to user cp and click edit sig, you will see a list of the posting rules, these rules are ajustable per user.

This is what I am wanting to post in my sig...

I didn't know about the Find More Posts function.

I don't know why my browser (Firefox) is not using the auto fill any more.

I didn't subscribe to all the threads I post in, as I don't want all the emails. However, with this new version I see that you can select not to receive emails. That is great.
