anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

lightning .. but hey we have stamer and hes playing like a beast right now .. Detroit vipers is one of my favs too

im going to have to sit back and do alot more reading on this pump .. would like to be able to just run 1 in my 180 and get rid of the 5 power heads im using now ..

n

treetopflyn - I'm having the same issue. If I turn on my cell phone near the sensor in the dark it goes into night mode.

yep same thing. I am thinking about mounting it next to my Ai controller to provide some light but that seems silly to have to do.

I bought an MP40 last month. They are cool, but are overpriced. I ticked a few locals off by giving an honest review saying they should have more for their price tag. After I get one or two of these things I'll probably be selling off my Vortech.

RR thanx for the info .. yea alot of my friends got rid of the techs cause the noise .. one of my friends had to replace the bearings 2 times in less then a year .. i think my power heads are going up for sale and time to go to something like this .. i just want to keep a lil but of space in my 180 .. sure would hate to lose 1/4 of 1 side to a wave box n dont feel like putting like 400 out of pocket of vortechs ..

So what's the consensus? Would I be better off with two 25's or one 40 in my 50 gal tank? I plan on having a RA in the near future to control them. BTW, it's a 3ft tank.

I'm more of a lurker, absorbing all of the information you guys (and gals) have given since I am just getting started in the hobby. I've read a lot of things on here other forums and the thing that I see is that a part of this hobby is about (whether it's on purpose or not) status. This subject is particularly part of the point. I feel that a lot of people buy Vortechs (or Radions), Apex's, etc because it's the top of the line w/o regard to whether or not they are truly worth it. It IS nice to say, "I have 2 MP40's". Frankly, it makes me feel good saying it and I don't have any! This thread as well as the Evergrow thread is really helping out a lot of newbies like me who may start out thinking that getting a Vortech is the ONLY way to go and that I absolutely have to either a Radion or a AI to have good growth.

It's refreshing to read a lot of people's comments about the new products (China or not) and I (and we all) hope that this will make the Ecotech's of the world rethink their pricing strategies. It's not fair, to a lot of people who love this hobby, to make them think that buying the most expensive product will contribute to the most successful reef tank. It's husbandry and good understanding of the science first.

Just my 2 cents.

Just received my wp40 last night and I have to say... I'm quite impressed with this little pump. It's definitely priced right and offers a nice alternative to the two big dogs.

This is a really strong pump! Lucky I have eurobracing because if my tank was rimless, I'd have water all over my floors.

Once I do the mod and throttle down the flow rate a bit, I think it should be a pretty decent pump.

I am currently using W2 mode and it makes a high pitched vibration pattern. Not too loud but is definitely noticeable.

Thanks for the info. What size tank? 180 rimless here and I'm worried about that wet floor with my order! How long ago did it ship?

Nice pictures and comparison, toofrigginswt. How would you compare the noise level between the WP40 vs MP40?

I have a 125gal (60"x24"x20"). I purchased it on the night of 3/12/13. I received it on 3/18/13 from the post office. I think you'll have to worry about water spill only if you set it to W1 mode which creates the ~~~~~~~ rogue waves.

hey too whats the size of your tank and are you using the MP with the WP ?? or are you just going to use the WP ???

Well, I have 2xMP40 and 2xMP10 on my tank already. I purchased the Jebo WP40 because I was curious... especially with all of the attention it's getting in this thread. Asthetically, I prefer the looks of the MP40 in my display tank. Same reason why I initially chose the Vortechs over the Tunzes.

BUT, like I said earlier, I am very impressed with this pump. It is much more powerful than my MP40. It's a great alternative for those who don't have the budget or not willing to spend $400-800 on a pump. The way I see it, if this pump lasts me 4-5 years, that's totally worth the $85 plus shipping.

Currently I am using only one MP40 on one side and the WP40 on the other end. The WP40 overpowers the MP40. I have my other pumps offline.

The MP40 has a more broad flow vs the more narrow flow of the WP40.

With both pumps on full blast, the WP40 is much more quiet than the MP40. I can't hear the WP40 with the Vortech on. However, if I turn the Vortech off, you can still hear a slight high pitch spin from the propeller depending on which mode you are running. It's not bad, but noticeable. I'm sure if the pump is throttled down, the noise would dampen a bit. It's no where near as loud as the MP40 though.

Heat wise, my tank was 77.7 degrees last night after the lights turned off. This morning when I checked it was 77.6. Not sure if that's a good indication of heat from a pump but I at least wanted to throw that out there.

I hope that helps. Let me know if anyone else has any questions or if you would like me to compare anything else.

I really like the ideas in this thread. They seem like a great option for us. I own the nova A4 LEDs instead of name brand however my tank is eurobraced and I want the clean sleek look of no cords so I traded for some vortechs. If not I'd be all over these, I'll still be tagging along

I'd actually prefer a cord in my tank instead of zip tied mounting tabs and a thick power cord on the outside of my nice clean rimless tank. Cords in the tank go up about 3" over the back and hidden behind a painted back. The part about introducing electricity to the tank, okay, there is that....but tanks should be setup to handle that to begin with (Ground Probe/GFCI) so not really an issue IMO.

i was just reading about these .. anyone tried them on a 180 yet ?? n how many did you need for it ...

I run two on my 180, and it creates more of a swell... If I put only one on and drop the water level I can get like a 4in wave from a single pump

That's the first, a power head people are complaining that is too powerful LOL!

Ecotech and Tunze are definitely dissecting these power heads and incorporating their own modules and components in them.
