anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

simon thats what i was thinking .. cause if you look at most other pumps they are sitting in like it cradles it not all the way to the socket ..

Greg,
Is it a simple plug it together or do you have to do some wire cutting and splicing? I like the added control, smaller size and lower cost. Good find.

My wp40 is on its way, I am wondering about this also. I can cut and splice, but plug and pay is always better even if you have to use an adaptor...

That means it is cutting the voltage to the Driver as well correct? Didnt someone post a while back that this could be hard / damageing to the driver as the PWM signal turns off/on so fast...???

My second unit shipped last night. A pair of WP-40s coming for my 48x24. Anyone think it's too much? :D

These WILL be a direct replacement for my MP40. For whoever asked above.

just ordered 40 with the 3% discount. thanks for the day long read everyone.

DC 5V-24V 4A 48W LED Light Dimmer Adjustable Bright Controller

i never saw if this worked. i like the idea of dialing it in precisely

I think it was suggested that you don't drop the voltage to below 12V to make sure the controller has enough voltage to operate. The controller may work below 12V but it is not a good thing.

Where would you measure the voltage at? Inside the driver box where the power leads come in with a multimeter?

I'm waiting on my second for the same size tank. I'm thinking ill have to turn them down a bit. Right now I'm running mine a long with 4 koralia 1400's. I'm hoping I can do away with all of the koralia.

I was planning to throttle them down all the way, and possibly use the adjustable voltage PSU if they are still too powerful. I'd rather two lower flow powerheads than one higher flow one.

I got mine a few weeks ago and works great. i have a 125g tank and i think one is fine in that size tank. i get good wave action with it.

then the power supply went bad but you can use any laptop power supply.
i contacted them and they sent one right out great customer service.

This may be true, but when using the variable supply that everyone else is using. Most people are running only 15volts, so that means the driver is only getting 15 volts as well instead of 24.

You don't need to. Just measure the voltage on the output of the dimmer with a Multimeter.

Mark the dial where it is completely off. I marked mine on the dial at about 5 o'clock position where it says off.

Turn the dial slowly clockwise until you get 12V on the multimeter. Marke that position. Mine is about 9 o'clock.

Turn the dial all the way clockwise until it stops. That should be about 24V. Mine is about 2 o'clock.

As long as you keep your dial between the 9 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions, you have 12 to 24V to your controller and pump and you won't worry about your controller or driver not getting enough operating voltage.

Thanks SimonSKL, I just ordered my Dimmer from ebay... It and my WP40 should be here about the same time. I have a MP60 on one end of my 220, however I havent been able to save up the $800 clam's to get another for the other side. After following this thread for a while and seeing the Wp40 didnt electrocute anybody I decided to give it a shot...

Any advantages to the dimmer over the power supply with multiple voltage settings? I should be getting my two powerheads this week. I already have one power supply but I need to grab another.

The dimmer allows you to fine tune any voltage between 0-24V (not recommend to go below 12V) while the selectable PS gives you more of a graduated or step-wise voltages. To me either one works fine. It is unlikely you will keep changing the voltages once you settle on specific one that you like.

I ordered a Jebao connection cable from RA. I'm hoping this will allow me to have full control of my wp-40 with my Apex. I'll report back once I have it for those also interested in Apex control.

For the past several years I've been running two 6105's with my Apex but hope to add this pump to the mix.
