anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Are there any "mods" needed to achieve this or is it plug and play. Just starting to look in on these.

Everything you want to know is contained in this thread. You need a custom cable and are replacing the stock controller with an 'aftermarket' one.

Reef Angel also has a thread on it too.

I don't know if Apex has anything, but there is plenty of info in here as rrasco mentioned.

Some people are using it with the apex, you have to mod the cable and run their reefcrest mode. I don't own one so I can't say what has to be done for sure, but I'm pretty sure this was covered in one of the many pages of this thread.

No cutting on any stock cable. The 24v coming from the power supply is connected to the input of the PWM board and the output from the PWM board is plugged into the stock controller. The wired pot allows me to change the power to the controller. So this is the 3rd option other than a variable PS and the LED dimmer.

Simonskl, does the PWM board get hot like the led dimmer when you drop the voltage to like 15v?
Also, I can't tell from the pics but you said that the power from the power inverter will just plug directly into the pwm board?

Here is another video I made controlled by the reefangel. Im running a simple mode now that allows me to change the PWM %.

Im about the try a new pattern that was created on reefangel forums. It will simulate the tides from my location. Will mimic a low and hgh tide. Pretty neat stuff.

My PWM board never gets hot and is cool to the touch. I place it on top of a glass coaster just in case. I plan to put the PWM board in a project box with the pot sticking out so I can adjust the power setting. A picture is worth a thousand word. This is how I hooked my PWM board to the controller.

I don't think you can run the Vortech profiles on the wp40 with the Apex. You can only program pump profiles like you do with a Tunze pump.

I'm not an Apex owner, so I don't even know what the difference is. Why would you not be able to? People reported doing it, but I do recall them mentioning Tunze in there, so maybe you're correct.

Great to see. I was wondering how you hooked it up to since you told me there was no cutting of the stock wires.

I see you did it exactly as I was thinking. You got a male end to plug into the controller and you used the female end that came with the LED dimmer,or at least mine did.

I was going to put the whole thing in a project box and get a female end that can be mounted to the project box, then have the male end coming out of the box with enough length to get to the controller.

I can't recall the type of male and female ends that are used so I can search for them online?

I was searching the post but couldn't find this information, but can anybody direct me to the post that explains how to hook this up to the APEX? From my understanding, you have to buy a RA cable and then modify it? Is that correct?

Thanks Simon. Do you know the name of the adapter terminal that the red and black wires plug into?

I got this female connector as part of LED Dimmer that I ordered before. I believe you can buy them separately on Amazon. Search for "Gino CCTV Camera 2.1x5.5mm Female Power Adapter".

Sacohen, The 2.1x5.5mm is also called a type M connector if you want to buy them from RadioShack for your project box.

I just posted the link to it about 10 posts ago, but here it is again.

Yes it was. If I remember correctly you had to cut the end off the Reef Angel cable and put an Ethernet end on.

Found the post.

Thanks I didn't know what type it was. Type M great.
Last night I ordered that board I had you look at.

IF you search ebay for DC 9-48V PWM Stepless DC Motor Speed Controller/Governor Switching 12/24/48V 6A it is a nice PWM controller already in a small enclosure that should work great mounted to the back of the factory controller. I just ordered mine and Ill report back on how it works. I plan to run both sets of the red and black wire from it inside the factory control box splice the input and output wires together and 2 side tape the box to the back of the controller. Should make for a nice neat waterproof controller option.

Nice I wish I knew about this last night before I ordered this other one.

I don't think it will be waterproof, maybe water resistant or splash resistant, but not waterproof.

They way I'm gonna do it and SimonSKL did it there is no cutting of stock wires, just plug into the box and out of the box to the controller.
