My watt-meter also confirms no difference when changing S speeds in any mode except W1

Not at all. What you're seeing pulled from the wall is what you will be billed. Its reversed from what you're thinking. Half of what you're measuring is going into spinning the propeller, the other half heat.

I'm afraid every electrically run item has a loss of electrical power that is called the Power Factor which kind of sucks because labels only mention wattage without the power factor subtracted (which some not all city meters do notice, I still have to check if mine does). So for example a Compact Florescent bulb with a 25 watt label and a hypothetical power factor of .50 would actually use 50 watts.

I just cant help but notice how efficient my koralia 1400 gph is 8.4 watts , .86PF = 9.8 watts used (possibly billed)

WP40 36w / .53 PF= 68 watts used (possibly billed)

As far wattage being lower on W1 briefly I believe it is a soft start but why do I not see a near zero reading when pump turns off for a second , more wasted electricity or meter maybe not refreshing readings fast enough (prop turns off longer than I see or hear soft start reading so I doubt that)?

The thing your missing is that you're measuring the real energy. The apparent power in the circuit is what it's rated at. What you pull from the socket is the power they bill, period. They can't magically pull numbers from thin air, nor do they have any idea how much of your power is going to heat vs other energy.

In your lightbulb scenario, if you were to put your watt meter on it, it will read 50 watts. What your watt meter reads INCLUDES the inefficiencies... the so-called power factor. What the bulb is rated at does not, which is the 25 watts.

The bottom line is that your watt meter includes the inefficiency of the object its measuring.

Example a 60 watt Incandescent light bulb creates a lot of heat and has a perfect 1.0 power factor (60 watts generated and 60 watts used). I looked further into it and most residential customers are not affected or charged for low power factor energy use but commercial customers whose average goes below .90 are charged extra so it may be a $ concern in the future. I also read that new energy star computers must now have a min .90 power factor (I might try a 19 v computer power supply to see if I can save some watts & $).
The easiest way I can explain power factor is a ratio of what electricity is needed to be generated by power plant to what the actual load uses.
Sorry to gripe about a few watts but my almost $1000.00 water & power bill has me thinking about tearing down my 180 mixed reef.

I cannot imagine a $1,000 water and power bill!!! That's crazy!!! Our electricity here is only $0.09 per kwh.

$1000 a month water and power bill for a 180g tank! wow! I have 2 tanks, a 125g and a 92g. My average power (electricity and gas) is under $300 a month and I was constantly reminded by the power company that I consume more electricity than 96% of similar homes in the neighborhood! California is just too expensive a place to live.

I have a 210 gal and my electric bill has been as low as $150/month and our house is 3400sq ft to boot lol. Granted I live in GA where we don't get raped for electricity haha

Running led's, no chiller (obviously), 500 in heaters, fuggw light, two WP40'S, skimmer, pumps, etc.
 
Anyone have a link to the magnets used on 1" acrylic or glass?

I can't find them anywhere and need them for my 4 40s and 2 60s :(

Sorry , My almost $1000.00 Los Angeles Water & power bill is for 2 months includes water & trash but the electrical portion is about 75 % of bill or $300.00 month when using Air Conditioner to $200.00 for non A/C months. In only a 1700 sq ft house,with central A/C and a mini split(saved $50.00 a month plus chiller comes on rarely)for fish room, 180 gal , 2 X 250 MH , 126 watt DIY LED ,2 X 250 w heaters, Chiller, WP40 , koralia 1400, pumps , fudge with 46 watts lights, SRO3000 Skmmer

City thinks LA is full of movie stars and is charging almost .20 a kilowatt (to go up another 11% soon).

LADWP highest paid city workers in the nation.
Add all the solar system rebates and wind farms they are installing
Plus all the city kick backs and corruption and that's why they need to rob from its citzens!!!!!:headwally:

Do you guys think that my WP40s and WP60s will be ok with the magnets I bought for the outside magnet replacement.

My tank is 1" acrylic, with 1 1/8" on the back.

Magnets I bought were N50 2 x 1 x .5 coated with epoxy. Said they have a pulling force of 89 lbs.

Just want to make sure I didn't buy a magnet that was TOO strong and might damage the pumps.

Anyone else order one from fish-street recently? I ordered mine on the 11th and today (22nd) it finally showed it processed at the sort facility in Honk Kong.

When I read through the thread a month or two ago people seemed to be reporting they were receiving them in the US within a week.
 
when I ordered from china lately they sent me a message saying it can be a little later than expected.

"Recently the China Post announced that all items shipping by air are now subject to x-ray screening for regulated materials. This additional screening has cause delay in shipment."


this was not from jebao but from a diffrent company, not sure if it is the same reason yours is delayed.
