anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Ahh, thanks shifty, that's probably what it was then. It arrived in San Francisco today. It's not a huge deal as my tank just finished cycling a little bit over a week ago and is still empty (just been ghost feeding since.) I'm just a little anxious to play around with it a bit since I haven't had a DC powerhead before.

Noise Update

Noise Update

I have a Jebao Wp40 and have checked wattage (therefore gph) on new controller and it only effects W1 mode and I would love to have S2 , S3 to work in else mode since the pump makes no noise in those speeds( noise is very low pitch that can be heard 3 rooms away, it just doesn't dissipate going though walls even thought its not very loud at its source). The 3 watt pot seems like a good idea but that would waste even more electricity which brings up my next concern I have that when compared to a Koralia 1400 gph cost $21.89 for one year at $0.20 a KW ( good old LADWP bunch of thieves versus $117.38 for WP40 on H1 2000 gph. for the electrical cost of running one WP40 , I could run over five Koralia 1400 which would be 7000 gph versus 2000 on WP40 . Now I know there are going to be other members that say WP40 is 3500 gph but that is confirmed by wattmeter to be on W1,W2,W3 and Else modes for only short pulses. Also if anyone is trying to replicate my cost analysis please also factor in the low power factor of WP40 (.51 to .53) versus Koralia high power factor (.86)

Jebaous sent me another pump and noise is can barely be heard at 8 inches from pump ( I also noticed that noisey pump had a impeller with some casting flaws), no longer looking into dropping volts for noise concern as I think that 2 alternating Wp40 at full voltage would be great for my 180g.
Still may try a laptop power supply to see if I get better energy use.

Replacement pump

Replacement pump

I originally ordered from jebaous on Ebay , when I wrote him about my noise and mentioned that if he could send me the improved impeller bushings like fishstreet had. Before I got a chance to read his reply he had a replacement pump at my doorstep.

Just wanted to say that I did get my WP40 on Monday. Gives amazing flow in my 6ft 150g DT, I'm very happy with the purchase!

Just got off the FishStreet site. If you go to the DC controllable pump page, they have a poll on the right margin asking WP owners what improvements they would like on the product. Apex controllablility, wireless control, battery backup are among the choices. Go vote.

I actually got mine very next day. I used Amazon and the distributed is in Charlotte and I'm in Augusta. Cost an extra 20 though.

As I said I ordered mine via cnz lighting through Amazon and had them the very next day.

Have not needed to try and test their customer service however.

Has anyone noticed their WP40's losing power over time? Mine is about 5 months old now as part of a GB.

Mine seems to have lost about 50% of its power since it was new. I use to run it on 75% W1 mode and now at 100% and the same mode it feels extremely weak. I just gave it a bath in vinegar and it did not improve things.

I have a WP25 I could replace it with in the meantime.

Yes. The pumps loose power over time.
Take them out and take them apart and give them a good cleaning they will come back to full strength.

Clean everywhere especially the impeller shaft and where it seats.

I took it apart and put it back together. The bushing at the nozzle seems to be critical on power loss. It it is off alinement at all it won't work correctly. I just adjusted it and it looks better.

I will say a WP25 can make a big wave in a 6' 125 when you aren't watching.

I got a wp25 a few weeks ago. It seems like usually by the time I buy the new cool thing its old and sucks by the time I decide to buy them. Does everyone still love the theirs. How long have people been running them. Who has the oldest one still going.

I have a WP 40 I got in April and a WP-25 I got in late May. (one of the first in the US.

I love them both and have not had any major issues with them. there is the known issue of the night sensor being a little picky in placement and the issue of having to clean then regularly in order to keep the flow up.

I like the pumps so much, I actually have a DC-6000 on order from a GB out of Richmond VA, due in mid December.

So is it fair to say the bulk of people here have purchased their pumps from FS and no issues. Only asking cause ive had problems in the past ordering from out of the states
