anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

I don't think they are built in on the newer versions and it is not an add on.
It is a very small photo cell and 90% of the time is accidentally thrown out or lost.

I just purchased a wp40 and simply am amazed! It pushes water very effectively ! As I was reading thru this thread everyone is talking about a light sensor. Are the newer versions already built in? Or is this piece an add on you have to buy?

The RW's have it built in and works like a charm

I looked at the box and can't really find a model number. Either way called my lfs and they will give me one to replace the one that did not come w unit.
Once I receive should I turn unit off before attaching it to controller?

Any pics of the newer models w built in sensors?

I found the sensor in the bag that came with the controller!!! Holy small!!!

Is the sensor supposed to fit snuggly into the unit or is it supposed to slightly stick out?

I tried sliding it in but it only goes to a point and then stops.
I certainly don't want to push and damage the unit trying to make it go all the way in.

Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.

It sticks out a bit.

I don't know if they have fixed the sensitivity issuebof the sensor.

It can't be in total darkness.
If it is then the it won't go into night mode.

There needs to be some light.

I used to have the controller and sensor under my stand, but it had to be near the on switch from one of my powe strips in order to have enough light to put it in night mode when the lights went out.

Yes thanks ! I did go ahead an plug it in and immediately saw the orange señor light coming on. Let's see how when happens when halides kick on. I placed on hood left side in the back corner. Light from halides does reflect on walls so let's see if it is bright enough to shut sensor off.

Where did you get yours?

I bought the RW-8 from Reef Breeders $90....also bought my two Photon 32 lights from him....the light sensor works really well on this....kicks in as soon as my moon lights come on and starts back up when the lights turn on in the morning

well as each halide kicked in not till the third which the controller is closest did it automatically kick in.

You may need to move things around a bit to get it to work the way you want.

Also somewhere in this thread there is a link to a photocell that Radio Shack sells that is more sensitive and works better.

I have my WP40's for about a year now. They were both running beautifully until I came home one night to 1 of the pumps being off. I unplugged the waterproof connector then reconnected and it went back on. Both pumps hadn't been cleaned since placing in the tank so I decided to give both a vinegar bath. After the bath they both worked impressively...in W1 they both created a beautiful wave however I came home from work 1 night later and the other pump had shut off. I tried putting the old controller back on, (I have the older less versatile controller and then the updated S1, S2, S3 controller), no change... in fact sometimes when I thought the units were completely off they were just running at a lower voltage/speed/mode....say 25% ...but that was without the light sensor and without me switching to lower power on the controller. I can't keep coming home to no flow and it's a drag to have to disconnect/reconnect to get them to work again. Has anybody had this issue? If so, any solutions?
