Anyone want to go in on dowflake?

I'm looking to increase the calcium in my FOWLR for corraline growth, so I am going to purchase 50lbs of Dowflake online for $20, as it makes much more sense than spending $15 on 400 grams. Ofcourse I will never use this much, so if anyone is interested I'd be willing to split it up equally. I'm buying either way though. Just let me know.

Hey xhaust50: I'd love to go in on it, but I'm on the other side of the country :). But seriously, I have been looking into doing this myself and was just wondering if you would mind sharing where you plan on ordering from. I did see the links in the DIY recipe on reefkeeping.com, but most of those look like wholesale only.

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks xhaust50. I did see the buckeyefieldsupply.com before...thanks for the other link. 16 cups sounds like quite a bit less than 50lbs..I wonder how much that is?

You have any luck finding magflakes in 50lb bags?

I'd be willing to take a piece of that action. I work in Ronkonkoma, so picking it up from you would be pretty easy.

I placed the order last night. It actually came to $34 and change shipped, I guess I miscalculated the first time there. Sorry for the misinfo. If anybody wants some I'll give away in 5lb increments for $3.50.

BTW, I do not no where to get the magnesium from, but I do not own a reef tank. I know the first link posted offers mag flake for the same price of dowflake, and the bag contains 16 cups (not sure how much that is).

Received the dowflake today. DgenR8, I have 10lbs ready for you, $7. I am in smithtown, but I'm also in St. James alot which is probably closer. I know I'm busy this weekend, but I may be able to meet you sometime early on Saturday or Sunday. Let me know what's easiest for you.

Anyone else interested in some dowflake?

I'm in Ronkonkoma every week day for work. I'd much prefer not to make the trip out there on a weekend, if I can help it.
What's your weekday schedule look like?

Weekdays I'm all over the place (construction), but usually in the smithtown area. Where are you on the weekends?

Good tip on the Charles Hardware. I know Home Depot doesn't carry it in the winter, so I figured no other places would.

What hours are you working in Ronkonkoma? I'm much closer to there than Baldwin. I might be able to drop it off for you.

My hours vary from day to day. Sometimes, I'm in there at 4:00 AM, other days, at 8:00AM. Could also be any time in between. I'm out in a truck most of the day, anyway.
The shop is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00PM. If you're in the area, I can leave the money with someone and tell you who to look for.

Yeah, PM me the name / address of the place and I'm sure I'll be around there one day this week that I could drop it off.
