i really love tangs, but i just hate having to stick my hand in my tank everyday to feed him nori, and also it becoming brittle and flying all over the tank.
Nori is good for the whole aquarium! (High in Mg content.)

Gary, I use Oceanic salt. The last thing I need to add is more Mg.

I buy nori and dulce from a local health food store. I rip it into small pieces and throw it in the tank, I have no idea why people use clips.

try using romaine lettuce instead. my hippo loves it.

Only problem with romaine is that it lacks the nutrients they get from the nori. Its like feeding them popcorn.

I have a Naso that won't eat much but nori. My other tangs (PBT, Kole, Sailfin) all take to anything that hits the water. I just drop a whole sheet in every day and let them fight it out.

I twirl my Nori strips around a clear piece of rigid tubing and secure it with a rubber band. Then I place the tip with the nori at the bottom of the tank and secure the tubing with a spring clip on the edge of the tank. Keeps it secure til they eat it all except what's under the rubber band!

BTW, I only do this for our 240--we have tangs in two other tanks and the fish in those don't go for the nori as much--i feed them (and the 240) Hakari Algae wafers. I break them up, soak them about 3 min, and dump them in. The soaking softens them so they can eat them right away, as they are very hard. I have a blonde naso, a yellow and a Kole Tang, but my Emporer Angel, Lawnmower and foxface all eat the wafers too. a wonderful food.

ya but see my tank is a 2.5g tank.. i have no where to put the clip unless i like tied it to a wait on the outside of the tank.. or something.. IDK..

You have a blue tang in a 2.5 gallon tank? hahaha

Just determine how much the tangs eat in a day and only put that much in the tank.

I clip it to the side of the glass and push in down with one of those grip pole, things....

Simple. Only leave it in for about 4 hours if it is not eaten. Roll it up tight, if it's dry, dip it quickly in the tank water to soften it up.

Nori is a great thing!!!!

Doesn't leaving it there for prolonged periods of time also raise nitrates?

Whether it's eaten quickly or not there's no doubt it ends up there.

I have a Blue Tang, Coral Beauty, Majestic Angel, Sailfin Tang, and Lawn Mover Blenny.....all loves Nori that I bought from a local groceries store.

I fed them daily by just rolling a 6"x6" sheet around a 1" PVC joint and secure it with a rubber band. I use a fishing line to suspense the PVC piece into the water. The rubber band keeps the Nori nice and tight around the PVC all day and the fish get to graze at it without wasting any.

Take me about two minutes to attach the Nori every morning before I go to work. By the time I get home, my fishes are fat and happy.

i use my mag float to hang the nori works great.

I got to try that one.. good idea!

I just tie a small sheet to piece of rubble with rubber band and they will do the rest:

I superglued a clip (suction cup so it still rotates) to a small mag float. It floats so i dont get my hands wet.
I used to do the rubberband and rock method but got tired of getting the rubberbands out. Another method is to rubberband it to a piece of RO tubing, makes it easier to get the rubberbands out.
I only give it like once or twice a week now.

Thanks Gary. :D

I think someone littered in your tank.

I like the magent idea. very simple. effective. Clips break, get gunky, just one more thing to have to keep track of and clean.
