apex 0-10v problem

I have had my full apex for close to a year but i just finally had a use for the 0-10V. I did a DIY led kit from rapidled.com and it works fine. I have two of the Mean Well ELN-60-48D dimmable drivers for my set up. I hooked up 9V battery to test if they work and they light up fine with this hooked up

My problem is I cant get my apex to produce any voltage on the 0-10

I made a DIY cable from cat6 cable that I had here and i when i use my multimeter on each of the 0-10V channels no matter what i do i dont see any change in voltage. even with them turned on i dont show any readings for voltage. I dont know if my apex is defective or what.

Is there anything I can do to see if my apex is defective?

I thought if i had the respective channel manually set to on it would power up but nothing changes with the voltage when i switch it from off to on or to auto.

Verify that you are measuring for DC volts. Assuming you have correctly wired the cable you should get voltage when manual on for the ports and if you are getting a float then it is possible (not likely) that the port is bad. Did you try all 4 ports?

I only tried port 1 & 2. I can try the other two when i get home from work.

I measured in DC volts.

When its set to manual on it should read 10V correct?

I never used these ports until now. When i googled my issue this i found a lot of people said these ports are a known issue with apexs so i got worried mine is defective.

Yes

Many thousands of units sold, I wouldn't put much fact in a Google search that might suggest that the small percentage of failures represents s larger issue with the units.

As I said, it is possible but failures as I have heard of are rare, not impossible but rare.

i totally agree that no one post messages online when their units are working perfectly. People only post when they have issues. I retest my unit when i get home and reply once i try all 4 ports

my apex has been great up until this point.

Yes

Also verify the green LED on the port is on when the outlet is set to manual on.

The ports turn green when set to manual

I was too busy last night to mess with my apex but hopefully tonight I can see whats going on

I know each light turns on when set to manual for sure

Make sure you're testing the correct pairs of wires in your DIY cable. I once had an issue similar to this, only to find out the 4 pairs of colors in my CAT5 cable were not in a linear pattern.

I had an issue with my ports... they were running fine when I took my DIY fixture down to rewire some new leds in... then when putting them back togeather I must have shorted something because all 4 of my ports were dead and no idea how it happened... Neptune got me fixed up within a couple of weeks and I was good to go. I didn't want any down time so Curt was nice enough to sell me a spare base unit at a good price and then fixed my unit when I sent it back. Now I have a spare base in case anything goes wrong... its good to have a spare lol

I have been down this exact path. It is incredibly difficult to get the wires right with a DIY connector. I spent untold hours fiddling with this until I bought one of the factory connectors from Neptune. Instant success.

Do not work too hard trying to save yourself the $15. Don't do anything rash until you try out one of those connectors. I would bet your Apex is just fine.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't he need to setup profiles prior to the voltage being sent??? I remember having issues setting my LEDS up while back and I think it was because I turned variable port to manual on and got nothing. I actually have to set profile to percentage and then can set variable port with if varaibleport1 = on then pf1.

Again I could be wrong.

I've gone through this before also, Neptune got me fixed up in no time.

If your not going to purchase the cable from Neptune, make sure that you are using the correct wires in the Cat cable.

The Cat6 wires are a little thicker so they should be easier to distinguish color wise.

Orange/White: 0v - 10v
Orange : Ground
Green/White
Blue
Blue/White: 0v - 10v

White/Brown

Going through this problem know except I'm getting constant voltage from all 4. 16v from V1/3 and 14v from V2/4. OFF/AUTO/ON didn't make a difference although the LED's did work accordingly. First tried with DIY cable and confirmed with Stream cable from Apex.
