Aquascaping, Show your Skills...

more importantly, where is the equipment? Not a single visible piece anywhere. Nice Job, but we need more info.

Hey UIU,

Check the build thread (my home page) for all the details, but in brief the goal from day one was to have no visible plumbing, pumps, etc in the entire system and have a very open aquascape... turns out that's harder than I thought!

There are 2x Gold Series Hammerheads driving two independent closed loops. I'd like to change those out to VFD + 3phase motors, but after 1year of project mode, i just want to enjoy this for a while... project for later if you know what I mean.. ;)

There were some tricks used on the cement work to create the shape/size etc and to get things like the 11+ CL returns and 4xCL input and the two down and 1 return (sump) lines all hidden... yeah, there are 18 pipes all hidden, mostly anyhow, which was very important to me.

To keep noise down, I have borrowed many ideas, nothing new, including putting all the equipment in the basement under the tank, and some circular overflows which are really durso's just done in 360degrees..

Really great aquascaping on this Thread! Great Job to all

I have to say that my ideas for my new 90g are out the window. I just got my dry rock yesterday. I am going to have to spend more time planning how to make my reef.

I saw Aquamend as an adhesive. Is there any other type out there that they have at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace?

I have read about JB Water Weld, Loctite (not sure what kind), and some type of epoxy foam. If anyone has an idea of what may be best, please let me (us) know. I will not be putting rock into a tank for at least a week. So, letting it sit around to seal/harden is no issue.

Which T5's bulbs are you using?

I think after posting my work in progress I never updated so here it is finished:

overflow boxes covered with egg crate structures (dry rock and mortar) and dry rock for the main structures in the display

(not sure if you can see it but it actually has a lot of caves, etc.)

Amazing Depth. Looks to just go on for 100's of feet. Nice job

Well here's mine. Been set up for just over 2 months and now I'm trying to get the algae gone. And I'm thinking of redoing the scape...
