Aquavista99's Orange Crush Acropora

Yeah, I have a big frag of that peice from aquavista's tank. Its definitely a nice one in his tank. It hasn't maintained the same coloration in my tank, however. I have it under 20K radiums on 250watt HQI ballasts. In my tank its more uniformly bright green/yellow and doesn't have the orange tips anymore. But, I'm hoping they'll maybe come back as the frag grows out?

Nice work!

Also, aquavista, you should show off some pics of some of your other corals. He has quite an impressive collection of rare acros and millis and all of them are nicely colored!

Awesome piece man! Never seen anything like that. Please do post more photos if you have additional rare corals!

Could this be same as the millie with yellowish base with green polps (I think "sunset" millie) that morphed its base color in a particular system? I wonder if it will retain its orange tips in other systems... Only one way to find out...

It kinda looks like an acropora florida growing in super high light / flow to me, but my chances of being right aren't great lol

I bought a few frags from Aquavista back in Sept of 09, in less than a year this is what it has grown into. Please excuse my camera skills, not quite as good as Aquavista's but you get the idea. This is by far the most colorful coral in my tank and I consider it one of the rarest as well. Neither my pictures or Aquavista's do this coral justice, it is WAY more colorful in real life.

What I like is how it has retained its orange tips and green body, most other SPS's that I have purchased have morphed to slightly different colors over time (months).

I'm using 14K 250 Ice Cap MH's, gonna have to try the 400w soon as a tank upgrade is taking place. :)
