So I've decided my plan to DIY a skimmer probably won't work. After the costs to get cast acrylic or clear PVC for a body plus a pump I don't know that it would be worth. If only you didn't have to buy a min. 8 ft of acrylic...anyway.
My system consists of 40g DT w/ 20 gal sump, so ~50+ total. I've found some pretty reasonably priced skimmers that all seem pretty comparable in their capacity and quality. They are the Bubble magus NAC 6, Reef Octopus NWB 110, Vertex IN 100, and PM Redline 100. I've recently started considering the Eshopps PSK-100 b/c as inexpensive as it is I've read some good things about it as well. I'm leaning towards the Vertex but still not quite sure. In the end does it really make much of a difference which I pick? I know everyone has their favorite brands but my thinking is that for under $200 they'll probably perform about the same. Thoughts?
