Thanks !

Yup I'm still using the same combo .I'm going to change the bulbs in the next month I think I'm going swap the coral + to GE 65k. I like the 65k better I think let's see ...

I like the clean look of this tank, I think the GE 6500K it really warms things up and creates a natural look. Any updates with the GE 6500K?

Bump for an update bro. Hope you things have been going well with your reef and you have some nice eye candy for us. :)

After an eventful weekend all is well! let me explain...

i woke up early Saturday morning, looked at the tank all was well...went to the kitchen to make breakfast a few minutes later i hear my ATO's alarm going off (high water level alarm) i found that strange...i walked to the tank, the water line was 2-3" below the normal...so i opened the cabinet, the skimmer collection cup at this point over flooded.
all i though was "great !!!!!".....it gets better

i opened my electrical cabinet to check if the return pump got disconnected or something. nope! the return pump is "on" and everything is secured where it was suppose to be. so then i take the pump off line for cleaning.... nothing pump was completely dead! . @ this point i am very stressed!! and upset!

after scrambling and thinking of a quick solution. i still have my old return pump for my 60g that i use for WC . i manage to get it online for the time being! that pump was struggling to keep up with the tank.

in the mean time the mini tank started to overflow! (i closed the drain and did not open it up again ) at this point i was so mad! the mp10 for the frag tank got wet! along with its controller. lets just say i came very close to quitting this past weekend!

after all the madness i got on the phone with TB AQUATICS and they had 1! hydro Bubble Blaster in stock. so on Sunday i took a 3HR round trip to NJ to them to pick it up on a SUNDAY!!!(they are not a LFS)

SUNDAY- after a quick modification to my plumbing i installed the new return pump. so i emailed AQUA CAVE about the issues, luckily the pump is still under warranty and will get replaced. AQUACAVE also had an Excellent response time about my issue. two great company's near me came threw for me big time!

Sunday afternoon i did a 40Gallon WC and that was it!

Lesson: have a back up Return pump !

I know that this is from several months ago, but couldn't resist commenting on this: I had the exact same return pump on my tank, and had the EXACT same thing happen to me last week. Came home from work to find my skimmer overflowing, and the return pump shut off. After messing with the pump for half an hour decided that it was in fact dead (just over one year of use). Made a mad dash the hardware store at 7:00pm and managed to get an old Mag7 pump plumbed in, and got the tank back up and running - but it was a very stressful couple of hours, that is for sure. Also, laughed when I saw Sahin's advice, as I just got my new Eheim 1262 pump in the mail a few days back.
Love your tank - absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to see an update soon!

Thanks !

Wow, 3 GE65K??? I went back to using 3 x ATI Aquablue Specials as I prefer the brighter look, but wow, 3 of those GE's will make the tank bright and add some serious PAR! Look forward to how it works out for you. Keep us updated.

Bump. This must be a very busy period for you and your family, so we would appreciate if you could find time to post some photos of the reef. :)

Hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! :celeb1:

Bad news.... Aefw  initially i wanted to quit!

after thinking about it i said OK! fine ill put things in a hospital tank and dip.

so i put everything in a hospital tank, a few days later i find the hospital tank milk white!:angryfire: my daughter put something(s) in i'm guessing and there goes my corals ....

After so many years of being careful! is all i though and the last thing i put in my tank was a friends pink lemonade that was in a really rough shape. but now i'm down to some soul survivors that don't look good. i would post pictures of skeletons but that's just depressing.

so after contemplating taking a break, I'm NOT!
I did however remove some fish and re-did the rock work due to the encrustment of the acros.

so my tank is bare right now and Acropora free. its been a month since i took all the Acro's out so i will give it until Febuary to introduce another acropora. i've been a book worm allover the web reading everything regarding these pest.

if anyone has any recommendations to eradicate these worms i would say im all ears but in this case im all eyes ;)

This is the same thing that happened to me. After so many years of being careful somehow AEFW got into my system. I did add a Scoly that I didnt dip...no idea if they got in as eggs.

Anyway; glad you didnt quit bro. This is the nature of the hobby; sometimes it just bites your a$$. :angryfire:

AEFW's will die off without a food source. Just keep the display free of acros for at least 6 weeks. But do checkup on that timeframe.

Hope the next year is better for your tank.

Thanks !! I know they will die without food but I'm really considering an flatworm exit treatment Before I put in any acros just to make sure. I don't know these things have me going crazy

chronicles of a Acro-Less reef tank.....

you guys seen the tank at its best its only fair to show it at its worse

Bro...that must have been such a devastating blow...bastard AEFW's! Seriously, the day us reefers discover a cure is going to be a major milestone in this hobby.

Just keep the display FREE of ALL acros for 2 months and ALL AEFW will die.

Dont feel too bad...Your very good at this and your tank will look great again.

well i think 3.5 months with no sticks is enough time ....
i'm picking up some stick in few days! and i am so excited!!

since i've had extra cash from not buying corals i added 2 Reefbrites and i'm in love!

also switched salt from ESV to REDSEA and got some new test kits :D

That's awesome man. Royal Blue LED's add a much needed spike to the overall spectrum when used with T5's. I know you like your GE 6.5K's; your combo along with the Reefbrites should produce some stunning SPS colours.

I think I am free of AEFW's; and without any coral loss too. Very happy. I picked up a Monti Setosa and a small mari colony (was free from ym LFS).
