I cleaned the cup on the skimmer yesterday and I actually have nothing accummulated for at least 24 hours!

There are bubbles in the chamber but nothing going to the cup!

Help....
I have this same problem. I cleaned my cup on Saturday and this morning it finially started skimming again. I also did a water change at that time, but no change in salinity. Are there any other water parameters (PH?) that would affect a skimmer?

When you talk abou clean' you mean take it out and scrub it in the sink? Right??

Yeah I took the collection cup off, rinsed everything out, then used my dedicated "clean" for reef use only sponge to clean it off. Does it just have to build the slime coat back up?

Unrelated to any cleaning - My G4X definatly stops skimming for days at a time though... Very inconsistant, thats why I was wondering...

I had the same prob w/ my 4x untill I added a second pump

^^^^look up a couple posts^^^^ thats after a fresh cleaning
more pics back 1 page

Yeah I am working my way towards that. I have 2 ocean runner 2700's laying around that I am thinking of using one as a recirculatiing pump.

Well, I just spoke to someone at Red Sea Berlin, she said that its normal for me not to be getting anything now b/c the tank is not stockesd. I just thought I should still be getting something...

Hopefully it will kick in in a few weeks.
When I first set my tank up I didn't start getting anything for a couple weeks. Before you know it you'll be emptying it all the time.

Hey guys
quick question about the gate valve mod
I just set mine up and put it to test and its pretty loud....its much louder then the sponge....did i do somethin wrong?? is it normal to be much louder?
cheers

i just realized something....is the top of the tee suppose to be open or there should be a plug??? im asking because if i cover the top of the tee with my hand, its much quieter and its a lot easier to control the water level in the skimmer....do i need the plug?
cheers

Dont think so. Truth is, I never really had great skimming when my tank was established and full of livestock. If it does not give me good results this time around, I am going to dump it and buy a new skimmer.

I don't know if this question has already been answered, since the thread has already been split something like 4 times, so here it goes: Would a sedra 9000 be to much pump if it were going to be used as a recirculating pump on an ASM G-2 with a 3500 pump already on it? I would like to do a recirculating mod on my G-2 and can get a sedra 9000 pump for pretty cheap.

Another new ASM club member here. Just got a stock G3 and set it up 2 days ago. It started to form some skimmate today, glad for that. Thus far it's not performing as well as a DIY I made (similar skimming method), but the Sedra 5000 pump is better than the OR2700 I had on the DIY (the pump broke, so... we got a new skimmer), so I'm expecting more. Time will tell and it's still early.

It's a fine skimmer for the money (nothing cheap in this hobby). Glad to be part of the club.

Humpn... Got a question about hooking the UV to your skimmer return. Does all the air bubbles in the return cause issues as far as the UV is concerned? Maybe less efficient? Or do you have a way for them to escape I'm not seeing in your pic? I like the idea of not having another pump for the UV Thanks

I don't get any bubbles skimmer to UV. I get a few from the overflow to the skimmer, not a problem though.

Does anyone know where I can get a needlewheel impeller for a sedra 3500? ASMSkimmer.com only have impellers for the sedra 5000 and sedra 9000 listed on thier wedsite.
