My G2 suddenly produces much less foam than it used to. It seems as if the generation of bubbles has been diminished.

I don't know if it's a water chemistry issue or something with my sedra pump and air intake.

has this happened to anyone else?

what pump should i upgrade my mini G to??? gen-x or sedra??? and which size??? thanx i have no mods yet but want to start with a bigger pump first....

For recirculating mod users, how do you guys clean the air intake tube without taking the tube out, because the water will be coming out of the venture and flood the floor if I take the tube out for service.

Have you run ro/di water thru the air intake tube to keep it clean? :) Has skimmer been cleaned?

I ran a bit of RO/DI through the air intake as suggested and the skimmer is now working nicely.

Hope this question hasn't been asked too many times, but has anyone tried to enlarge the air hole in the venturi ?
Any improvement?

I have 2 airlines on mine,, I run a cup of water thru them 1-2x a week :)

thanks for the suggestion and I will run the water through the intake lines in the future.

ASM G2 price & mod?

ASM G2 price & mod?

I am thinking about selling my two yr old G2 and was wondering what is a fair price for the ASM G2 skimmer with Sedra 3500?

will it be more attractive if I made the modifications or let the buyer make the modification?

thx
AC

This may be a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyways.
Can a G-3 be run externally or will it leak like crazy? If it will work. How do I do it? I have the room for it under my stand, but I would like to maximize my fuge space in my 30 gal sump.

I was reading through this massive thread to see if I could find ways of improving my G4 with the sedra 5000. Seems like there are a good handful of you with G3's.

My G4 has had the water level set to where the cone starts, set to where the water touches the top of the cone, and where the water is in the middle of the tube in the collection cup. I still don't see very much skimmate. I get a TON of nasty crap built up in the "throat" of the collection cup but I don't see a lot of the green gunk in the actual collection cup. It seems like the recirc mod is the best way to improve the skimmers skimmate so what pump would you recommend I use as the feed pump? Should I just stick with the sedra 5000 for the r/c pump? The skimmer has been running for 5-6 months now. There are 7 fish in my tank, sps, 2 BTA's, and a few inverts. Oh and a massive colony of pom pom xenia.

Lyscer - to put it simply the G4 is too big of a skimmer of the 5000 pump they used to try to sell with it. Put a 9000 on it and it will be a beast in comparision. With the 5000 pump they just dont skim worth a darn. Other ption is use the 5000 you have and midify it for recirc. and put another pump feeding it.

Hey guys, I recently placed an order for a g3. My question is, how high should i have my baffles and water level in my sump? My sump tank is a 40gal tank. (approx. 36"x15"x17"). My main tank is a 120gal. Thanks.

6-11" inches of water. If you want your baffles higher, just put the skimmer on a stand...
