ATI LED Powermodule - PreOrder Now!

I just got word a couple of hours ago that customs has cleared all of the fixtures for the first shipment. The 4 lamp units will begin to get packaged up and shipped out mid next week, and the packaging is still being cut for the larger 8 lamp fixtures and they will ship just shortly thereafter.

This is "straight from the horse's mouth".

By the way, I should also followup to this that all of us retailers here in the US are at the mercy of the US customs office when doing imports. Small single package shipments via FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc., are generally very easy and quick to go through, but when you're doing with multiple pallets, half containers, or full containers, it can take a bit longer. We have personally had shipments get delayed in customs for 5-6 weeks before, and you're spending thousands of extra dollars for shipments such as this in daily fees for those products to be held for inspections - sounds fair, huh!?

So in all reality, if customs would have just gone through the shipment immediately to make sure everything lined up with it I think a lot of you would be using the fixtures by now, but unfortunately this is just the reality of working in the import business. Sorry it's taken much longer than what we anticipated.

Jeremy, I'm not going to go tit for tat but this is not correct. Customs does not hold up goods up goods and not go through them unless there were some extraneous circumstances. To say that " if customs would have just gone through the shipment immediately to make sure everything lined up with it I think a lot of you would be using them now", is BS. Customs has a working time of 3 - 4 days unless there is a problem with the import documents or they just pull the shipment for an extensive exam, which could maybe take another week at the most.

I bring in on the average of 2 40' containers a week. Generally containers are in out of Customs in 1 or 2 days. I know how it works.

Point being is that there was no real ETA when when Premium Aquatics advised over a month ago that the lights would be here "next week".

I know we can both beat a dead horse here but I do not think its right to claim that an item that was basically here when it wasn't. To me, this was to drive per-orders.

Btw, I would have sent this as a PM instead of in the public forum but you have not replied back to my previous PM.

Ken, I replied when I had info for you. I never saw a PM come through, nor do I make it a point to monitor my PM box on ReefCentral all day long. I monitor this forum as much as I can on a daily basis, and I try to respond to every email I receive within 1-2 hours, even if it's after hours at times. I am always available via phone and email, but I can't possibly monitor PM's here on RC in a timely fashion as well and still handle everything else it is that I do.

You can think what you want, however we import containers ourselves, and I personally deal with the hiccups when they arrive. This is not Premium Aquatics shipment coming in from ATI, but rather the North American vendor of ATI, then they're shipping the fixtures out to all of us. The ETA's that were given have been exactly what we have been told.

Having said that, if you'd like to discuss importing containers in further detail feel free to give me a call at anytime 317-895-9005 as there is no point in cluttering up this thread with an argument about shipping logistics. I am by no means an international logistics expert, but I do know what first hand experiences I have had over the years, and what I mentioned above have been my own exact experiences, it's not "BS" as you'd like to call it.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Whats the latest on the 60" fixtures? Also, do you know if you can "sync" more than one fixture together over a larger tank?

Jeremy,

I've got the 10 x 80 powermodule over my 72 x 36W x 24" tall tank. I'm hoping to get a little more spread but from what I can see, the largest fixture (the 60 x 8, 4 x 75 LED) is 21" wide, same as my current powermodule. Does that basically mean that the spread will be the same? I assume the reflectors are the same?

They are literally on a couple of pallets in a trailer on a semi right now, I'm just waiting on that semi to back up to our dock. :)

In all seriousness I am expecting them to be dropped off tomorrow or Friday. We'll get them checked in and shipped right back out the door the same day they arrive here as long they're dropped off by 3pm eastern time that day.

I left early on Friday but it doesn't look like they were dropped off. I"ll contact the logistics company today and see if I can track down the pallets.
