ATI LED Powermodule - PreOrder Now!

ATI suggested that they think the T5 lamps might be the issue, with one of them being bad, or not seated properly. Try switching your lamps around and see if that helps at all.

I did that also. I swapped out all of the bulbs from good side to the bad side. I tripled checked that the all bulbs are making contact

Current Tank:
140gal 60" x 22" x 22"
ATI 4 bulb T5/LED 48"
Bulbs 3 Blue +, 1 Purple +
-newly setup, no corals yet.

This light is incredible from a control, aesthetic, and light output standpoint. Since I can't speak to how corals are responding--as I don't have in the tank yet--I've just been playing with creating a realistic day/dawn-dusk effects. The versatility the LEDs bring make creating a true to life sunset/sunrise is incredible. My fiancée and I almost always sit in the tank room to watch the color change each morning and evening. My moonlights fade to a red hue, and then slowly turn on the whites in an East to west manner with the actual sunrise. During the midpoint I slowly kick the T5s on. I reverse the process for Sunsets. Granted, this may have no positive effect for my eventual corals, but it's value in adding enjoyment to the tank is very high. Frankly, it's just freaking cool.

The only issues I've had are the following:
-on my left LED set I get "ghost" flickers during the transition from moonlights to day light. For example, I'll have the blue/red LEDs on and randomly the white lights will flick on and on/off. This may happen twice in two hours. I've tried unplugging the fixture to reset and re-loading my program, but to no avail.

-running the software on Parrells w/ Windows XP is fairly glitchy. At times, I get error messages while loading the software to the fixture and then program will recognize the USB but not that a lamp is connected. It's not un-workable, but an eventual dedicated Mac software would be very helpful.

-And a wish list, would be some way to to control it Wirelessly. (I know I'm stretching it on this one).

Sunset pic... Apologize for quality.

Jeremy,

We had a power outage last night for a few hours and when I woke up, only 1 of the three LED lamps were actually working--T5's were fine. I tried power down the unit and got the same result. Oddly, I tapped the top of the fixture and then the whole fixture went dark including the control box. If I unplug the 18pin light cord from the box the box will power on, but go off as soon as I plug it back in. It's as if there is something in the fixture shorting out. Any thoughts? The light has been working great up until now.

Yikes, I have been thinking of pulling the trigger on this fixture but I see there are some bugs that need to be worked out based on the reviews. I love the concept of a T5 LED fixture especially from ATI, but that's a lot of money to shell out to be worried of its functionality.

My guess is that it could be a relay that got hit by the power surge. I'd suggest giving ATI NOrth America a call and troubleshooting with them to see if they can isolate it to that. You can reach them at 303-459-2119.

I am looking at purchasing the 48" 8x54w sometime this summer. Have these issues I have read about here and elsewhere been worked out or are they relatively isolated? I find it a little odd that ati chose to put a LED cluster in the middle as most 48" tanks have a center brace. (mine does) Does anybody have shadowing issues or find the center cluster to be wasted due to the center brace?

I also saw that Jeremy mentioned a 4 bulb would work fine on a 24" tank. I now have an 8 bulb over my 120 (4x2x2). What is the dimensions of the 8x54?

Thanks for any input.

I hope everyone has liked their fixture they purchased!

Sorry, I did not see your last post!

Keep in mind that 99% of aquariums overseas (where these fixtures are made) do not have center braces, as they're either eurobraced or rimless tanks. That's why ATI has the fixture set up the way that they do. And on top of that a lot of tanks here in the US are going that direction now as well. You shouldn't get too much of a shadow, if any at all with the brace though, since there's so much T5 in play, plus the other LED modules that will help to spread throughout the middle of the tank which are positioned off to the sides.

The dimensions of the 8x54 are 46.14" x 20.27".

have these issues been resolved yet? I was thinking about pulling the trigger on this fixture as well but there's no way i'm going to sell out for a fixture supposedly worth 2300 (the same price as my tank) if it's going to short out

Yes, you shouldn't have any small hiccups with these fixtures on all of the Gen 2 models that are out now. What size tank were yo considering putting one on?

is this "gen 2" just new software or were some hardware changes made (power supply, drivers, newer leds)?

thanks

Sorry, I guess I misspoke, as ATI is not truly calling this a Gen 1 versus Gen 2. The newer ones though do have the acrylic lens bracket on them, as well as the 13 cluster LED's instead of the 20 cluster. The 13 cluster can indeed be changed out if ever needed in terms of future upgrades, where the original 20 cluster can not be changed out.
