Clock resets when powered down

Clock resets when powered down

Why does the light reset the time to midnight each time the unit may have been powered down for a period of time? I noticed this happens when I powered the unit down to do some electrical work. It did not happen when I just cycled it off and back on, only when the unit was off for a few minutes. It was an easy fix though since connecting the USB back to the computer immediately set the clock back to the current time. Anyone else noticed this?

Yes mine does the same, I am sure because it doesn't have an internal battery. I wish it had someone, because I wanted to connect it to my controller. I still am connecting it just to shut down in case my chiller cannot cool my tank down

Ok.. I am SERIOUSLY debating switching from my Radion to one of these.. I really like the shimmer of LED, but I much prefer the coloring of corals and the tank on T5 and this fixture has really good reviews from what I've seen.

I had a couple of questions though. It will be going over a Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 40 tank that's 24" wide. Its mostly frags right now but its heavily SPS dominant.

#1 Is it worth switching from a Radion XR30W Pro G3 to this? I know this is about $400 more + bulbs. But will it really be worth it?

#2 If I go with the 4x24 model with the 1x75 LED, what is a good ATI bulb combination to go with for SPS?

#1 It's AWESOME!!
#2 (2 blue+ , 2 coral+)

Does the dimming process shorten the life of the bulbs?

Yes it does. I know ATI will say no, but it still does shorten the life of T5's. Its not anywhere like it was with the old ballasts. Just don't go overboard on the ramp times and enjoy the benefits.

I heard the blue+ and coral+ combination was really good.

But it's "awesome" isn't really a great answer lol.
Is it worth it spending the $400+ difference to switch, especially for SPS? The colors on my coral, even under 20k with the Radion just seems kind of dull to me. Will the T5 help color it more? And will growth really be any different?

So after much trial and error and lots of $$$ on bulbs I think I found the perfect combo. I actually kind of when out on the limb and tried what Lunar and JPMagyar are using. I waited a few days to chime in to make sure I really did like the new color. This is what I am now using. It's actually close to my 250 watt Radium MH. Let me know what you think about the combo.

ATI B+, ATI Coral +, Giesemann Actinic +, Giesemann Aquapink, (LEDS) ATI Aquablue sp, Giesemann Actinic+, ATI Coral+, ATI B+

LEDs are rb-255, b 200, r 50, W 160. @220% total power. 6.5 hours at total power. Ramp up and down on each side.

T5 Channel 1 ramps up and down 1 hour. 6.5 hours at 100%
T5 Channel 2 ramps up and down 1 hour. 4.5 hours at 90% (working up to 100%)

Any news yet on when it will work with mac? or iPhone?

crappy windows laptop is dead and the only downside to a mac is this light doesn't work with it.

Are these the older Giesemann bulbs? They now have a Super Actinic and Super Purple. Don't see the other ones you listed. Also is your tank more towards the white or blue range?

I am not sure about that. I picked up the Actinic+ Not supper actinic. I can tell you though. The color is between true actinic and ATI blue + Its a really nice blue. My tank color is white/blue. I prefer a whiter tank. I had to add more white led to adjust. Hope that helps.

Well, I hope you guys are happy..Lol.

Have tried LED's once before, but didn't like the color of corals and tank. So This time I decided to go top of the line LED and went for Radion XR30W Pro G3. And Still not happy with the coloration. I have never run T5 before, but seen plenty of tanks running it and liked the coloration.

I decided I am switching from Radion and going to T5.. I was just going to get a standard 4-6 bulb Sunpower, but after seeing all the positive stuff and results with the hybrid. I decided to splurge and go wit the 4x24 1x75 Powermodule instead...

Does anyone run the 4xT5/4xLED fixture. I have an SPS dominated reef and considering switching from Hydra52s. Just wondering what the Acropora growth is like under these things?

I would go with the 8 bulb. I swapped my 4 bulb LED out and went to an 8 bulb Sunpower because I was seeing too much shadowing (common LED issue). I wish I had gone with the 8 bulb PM LED because I loved the LEDs. Just didn't have the money to get one. :/

Yes I get shadowing with the Hydra52s, Which is part of the reason I'm looking at changing. So the 4 T5 ATI Powermodule still has shadowing issues?

You will love it, I went with the 8 bulb 48" fixture on my 5' tank and love it. I had MH then DIY LED, then I went to Radions and then AISols. I liked the AI but always had something missing. I bought this light recently and someone said I bought a $2200 paper weight. I was so disappointed until I turned this light on and I love it. The only thing I don't like is I wish I could program it with my Mac, and I also wish it was controllable with my Apex. Other than those two things, I couldn't be happier with it.

Good Luck

Derek.

Anyone have pictures with equal coral+ and blue+ or 3 blue+ and 1 coral+?

I like 2 blue+, 1 coral+ and 1 purple+. Everyone has own preference and you also have to consider how the LED is run.

You can buy 3blue+, 2 coral+ and 1 purple+ to play around. worse case you waste a purple+ if you decided not to use it.

I have the 4 bulb fixture on 24" deep tank. No problem with shadowing. Growth is as good as all T5. But color is better. And I like the shimmer effect. Just the perfect amount.
