ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Never buy any ati 4 bulbs unless you have a really narrow tank. Even my 8 bulbs hybrid not cutting it on a 30"deep tank.

Well that maybe true for a deeper tank. My tank is 21" deep (as in top to bottom). I measured PAR in all area of the tank it seems to be sufficient for SPS even at the bottom of the tank. I have SSC growing at the bottom looking as good as the one on top and I only run LED @60%. I do not need to run it any higher.

This is what it looks like at the bottom of the tank and all the branches are grown in 6 months time. (the base was encrusted but I removed the branches completely in an effort to move it to a different spot in the tank). (Pic taken with iphone with no WB control).

Nice growth. What is the par value at this SSC spot?

When I measured the PAR I measured light level at the bottom, middle and surface. The light is hung 10" from the water.

At the bottom the PAR is 250 for T5+50%LED and 350 for T5+100%LED. I borrowed the Par meter so I cannot measure the exact spot now. This SSC is at 3" off the bottom So I am estimating 300 PAR.

The highest par is at the middle of the tank right below the surface which is 700 with LED @100. Note that I do not have all channel on @100% it's the spectrum I use.

Would two of the 48 inch lights w 8 t5 be enough for a 118x39x24 sps tank?the 40 width scares me I have this fixture in sfiligoi brand now on a 32 wide tank and it seems perfect. I want to keep the same style fixture and not go all led I've had the best success coral growth with this light setup. The prob is the tank I want has those dimensions any suggestions for lighting? I'm too ocd to have a 4 ft and a 5 ft light in case that was going to get suggested.

I'm adding 2 3' 8 bulb powermodules in the coming weeks. I'm switching from 3 6' Build My LED strips. I'm worried about acclimation/burn in. I'm a bit confused on the burn in aspect.

1.) You burn in the bulbs by running them at 100%, so how to you acclimate your tank to new lights if you have to run them at 100%? Move the fixture higher?

2.) Should I not use the LEDs for a bit while I burn in the t-5s?

Also,

3.) Which channel is which for the T-5s on an 8 bulb Fixture?

Thanks

I have already learned soo much from reading through this thread, but I've lost some answers to my questions along the way since I can't find the same posts again.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking at the ATI 48" 8×54W 3×75w LED Powermodule and was wondering if someone could chime in on whether they thought this would be a better option the a 48" 8×54W Dimmable SunPower with 2 reefbrites. I know both are quality lights and that coral will grow under either. I guess my question is is the powermodule worth twice the cost?

The tank will be a 48"×24"×20" sps dominant tank.

although I myself have a hybrid modules, I advise rather to pure T5 lighting. the best results and conceded one in my opinion pure T5 lighting.

I have great sps growth under the led part of my light in fact the most growth there, why would you advise against the led part?

I have no doubt LED grows coral. I actually use leds on my DT currently. However, I'm upgrading to a 48" tank and want a nicer looking fixture fixture and want to give T5's a go. I'm just wondering if the led powermodule is worth twice the cost of a dimmable Sunpower and reefbrite combo

Run the T5s at 100% during burn-in and at reduced photoperiod probably by 40% compared to original. Then once you burn-in bulbs increase photoperiod an hour weekly until back to original then start dimming. That's how I would do it.

IMO the dimmable Sunpower and ReefBrites are the best color wise. The LED Powermodule is the best hybrid single unit, so aesthetically this is the best. If I had to redo I would go with the former since IMO the ReefBrites cannot be beaten for LED colors based on what I've seen at my LFS.

Spartan, I say go with the hybrid. My comment was to who said they advise against t5 without led combined, because my sps do great in that location. I did not have success with all led it wasn't until i went led/t5 combo that i got amazing growth and colors in sps. under the middle area that is under the led the growth is the fastest I've had.its a sfiligoi version of this light I've had for 5 years. I'm replacing with the ati light as the fans have grown to be super loud on the sfiligoi one.

Ok. How about which channel controls which T-5s on an 8 bulb model?

Channel #1 is the 2 outer bulbs on each side. (total of 4)

Channel #2 is the 4 inner bulbs.

Got it. Thanks! You'd think they'd say something about it on their site or In the setup guides.

So should I setup actinic outside high par inside, or mix and match. From what I can tell, most people just alternate between B+ and others. So here's not necessarily an Actinic channel and a Daylight channel?

My combo is

ATI Blue +
ATI Ac
ATI AquaBlue Special
ATI Blue +
LED
ATI Purple+
ATI Coral +
ATI Ac
ATI Blue +

Ramp up Led's 35%

I have a 30" wide tank so I also have 2 reefbrites one on each side that I use at dawn and dusk.
