Seems like a very short photoperiod. Gradually increase your T5 to 7-8 hours for 4 bulbs and 3 hours for all 8 bulbs. SPS need a lot of light and looks like you are not giving them adequate lighting. That's provided your other parameters are stable.

I've actually been told that maxing them out at 100% was giving them TOO much light, hence the patchiness on the bases etc?

Other parameters are stable now i'm dosing using the balling lite method with Fauna Marin trace additives.

Your main light period is on the short side. Go ahead and extend the light period. However, have you checked for pests? Are all SPS including monti's stylosphora/hysterix etc all affected? Or just Acropora?

I checked last night using a red light and couldn't see any AEFW?

As above i've been told that I needed to halve the intensity and actually reduce the photoperiod - this is the updated program - I don't know what you guys think? Seems on the low side but I was thinking of increasing the intensity a touch each week, along with a gradual increase of both T5 channels photoperiod.

Your peak period should be longer. People usually have about 4 to 6 hours or even longer.
I know this light is very powerful, but still ........

How long would you recommend the max 50% intensity should occur for both 4 and finally all 8 tubes then?

Bear in mind, according to ATI this light is suitable for 70 gallons and larger - my tank is a mere 30 gallons.

Sorry for all the questions.

What are the dimensions of your light? You tank is 24"x18"x18". I think your light must be wider/deeper than your tank. Right? If that is the case, some of your 8 tubes may not even contribute much to your corals. How high above the surface of the water do you hang your light?

Anyway, Bucfan from the previous post has very good sound advice. Just watch your corals as you increase the photo period.

Good luck.

Go slow. 4 tubes 7-9 hours and 8 tubes 2-4 hours. There are many who run 8 tubes 6 hours or more but you got to watch your corals and feed a lot. I would say start 8 tubes 1.5 hours and ramp up 15 mins every 5 days to 3 hours. And start with 8 tubes 5 hours and ramp up 30 mins each week till you get to 8 hours. Your corals will tell you if they getting too much light. In this hobby patience is key. We've all been burnt trying to do things quick.

One frag that's colouring up nicely under the Hybrid is this SSC frag :

I am curious if anyone here can compare how this fixture grows and colors SPS vs the straight T5 fixture? Maybe someone who has run both on their system? Thanks.

Im getting the 8x80w fixture over a 72x30x22" tank. How high should i be hanging the light and at what intensity of led and duration of t5? SPS tank

12-15" above water level. I have a 27" deep tank and lamp is 14" above water level. 30-50% for LED, but start low. I have mine at 50% max after 8 months. T5 6-10 hours for 4 bulbs and 2-3 hours for 8 bulbs depends on your coral.

Hey all!

I just recently joined the ATI Power Module Hybrid club! My tank is 36x17x17, and the lights are hanging about 12-14 inches above the water line.

It's a 36" fixture, 4 bulb:

Blue+
Blue+
Coral+
Blue+

And I currently have the LEDs set at 30% intensity, while running my T5s for 8 hours.

How strong are these LEDs? I was previously using 2x Radion XR30 Pros over this 49 gallon tank at 40% intensity.

My tank is SPS dominate. Any help on intensity would be fantastic. Thank you

Welcome! You should be ok starting low with LED 30-35% is good with ramps on either end. I'd turn the T5 down to 6 hours and work back up to 8-9 hours. You have a 4 bulb lamp so PAR is less than 8 bulbs and more forgiving. I prefer using this lamp with T5 as prim light source and LED as only supplement.

I ordered my new tank yesterday 96"l x 33"w x 29"h & think I am going to light it with led powermodules. Anyone have thoughts on 2 8 bulb 36" units vs 2 8 bulb 48" units?

I have a new 8x54w LED Powermodule on its way. Anyone have lessons learned or important tips? I plan on starting out slow and raising the fixture relatively high to avoid stressing out the corals.

Right now I run five T5 tube (it was seven bulbs but a ballast died on me) and two XHO reefbrite strips. I know the PM will have way more light.

2X 36" units would work. You'd have 6 inches on the side of each unit since you split the difference between the length of your tank and the 2 units. There may a bit of LED shading to the sides but you could place your low light corals there. If money not an issue go with the 48".
