ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Need help...

Need help...

I dont have a clue how to setup the LED Powermodule. Everything tests fine. All tubes/LED light up fine etc in Demo mode. I downloaded the software and it connected to the ATI unit just fine. Happy with it all so far.

However, I need help with the software. I think I am too dumb to work it out.

I really am trying to do a simple tutorial. I'm already at 40 hours for the week (work) and still have 2 days left....

The software can be "scary" at first but once you mess around a little and really play with it, it makes total sense and is easy.

*****First and foremost, check www.atinorthamerica.com and make sure you have the most current version. (As of today it is 1.2.0.0) Please, please, please read the entire tutorial before starting.******

1) Plug lamp into control box

2) Plug control box to power

3) Plug control box to computer

4) In the upper right hand of the screen there are 2 circles. One is labeled "USB" and the other is labeled "LAMP". They should both be BLUE. If they are NOT both BLUE: exit the software and try steps 1-3 again.

*******THIS NEXT PART IS VERY IMPORTANT*********

5) Click "File" in the upper left hand corner and click new. A box will appear with 4 different selections. Choose the one that corresponds to the lamp you have. If you have 1 LED cluster select "LED 1/T5". If you have 2 LED clusters select "LED 2/T5" and so forth.

6) A graph will appear on the screen. There are 3 boxes in the lower left corner of the program. Two are labeled (Mode and Day Preview) and one is not. The one that IS NOT labeled will be known as Command Center (I made this up. It isn't a technical term used by ATI or anything.)

7) Click "Play" in the Day Preview box. A line will start scrolling across the GRAPH. As that line gets to each "circle" (this is known as a SETPOINT) it will command the lamp to perform something i.e. turn the LEDs on or change color etc. etc...

8) Once the Day Preview has finished, you should have a better understanding of what we are going to do from there.

Here is a picture of my current graph....(don't worry about the CUSTOM colors on the bottom of the screen. We will set those up later. The defaults are just fine for now.)

(You will notice there are a lot more dots on my graph than normal. This is a quick and easy fix. Go to the top and click "Settings". A box will appear and find SpacingTime and SpacingIntensity. Change both to 5 and select OK. Yours should now look the same as mine. This is optional though depending on what you like.

Each dot on the graph corresponds to a "time" and "intensity". That is what those dots are. You can drag setpoints to a dot and that will order the lamp to perform a function.)

For right now I will recommend that most new users leave the default program on and just adjust your intensities above. This should get most started and on their way.

After you have adjusted the graph to your liking, check it out in the Day Preview box by clicking PLAY and watching what your light does.

Once you are happy, select LAMP in the upper LEFT hand corner. Click "save in lamp" and wait. A box will pop up showing that it is saving. It will start counting UP to 100%. Once that is done, you can exit the software and disconnect your control box from the computer.

You will need to make sure your control box is set to the correct time. This is really easy.

Press the center button on the control box and select clock. Set the correct time. It uses a 24 hour time format AKA military time. Pretty easy to change. Once you have the time, press the center button and select YES. (YES and NO correspond to the buttons on the control box.)

You are done. Get a drink of water and stretch to properly cool down.

PS - Do NOT try to make changes from the control box alone. I know that ATI says you can but I HIGHLY recommend against it. You can mess things up pretty easily and you will spend HOURS trying to scroll from 0-255. It isn't worth it at all.

I will get a ton more pictures up another day with more on screen instructions. It is time for dinner and family time. I hope this helps a few people out.

Ryan

No worries, ill talk to my mate and get his spectrometer over for some play time :)

Thats great Rodney! Of course it doesnt have to be done right away. When its convenient for you and your friend. :)

It would be awesome to get something close. Can you remember to take a screenshot of the reading of final "RADIUM" spectrum under the T5/LED?

Many thanks. You guys are great help. I am glad I went with a unit that has awesome reefkeepers as owners. :D

Hey people, I'm so stoked about this light! Its beautiful, sexy and powerful! The light exudes quality! Cant set it up yet over the tank because I need stronger wall brackets. But I took some shots to show off the beauty of this light.

You know you've got quality when you see this branding:

I can see why you guys bought this unit.

Gorgeous pictures Sahin! You will absolutely love the light it puts out and your tank will love it too. Mine just has some blue LEDs running right now and everything looks great and starts opening up.

I love it!

Well, I can say I found my 4 bulb combo for sure today.

FRONT
Blue Plus
Actinic
LEDs

Now I will dial in my LEDs and will be totally set. I don't really care for the red LEDs and really wish they were Violet LEDs instead. That way you could have a VHO actinic look to the tank with just the LEDs. Just my opinion on that though.

Thanks dude. I look forward to seeing what this light can do for my tank.

My LFS guy uses that combo on his frag tanks. Looks amazing. Add a generous amount of Royal Blues, a sprinkle of blue and bit of white and your corals should look amazing! :)

Hey Ryan, many thanks for that quick tutorial above. That was MOST helpful. I would have been lost without your kind assistance.

I have sorted my light schedule out and uploaded it to the lamp.

A little help

A little help

Thinking about getting one of these units. My tank is a 65 rimless and the dimensions are 32x24x20 . Debating between the 24' 4 bulb or the 36' 4 bulb. Any input would help. It's sps dominant with a few zoas and softies. Thanks.

Peter, the 24" version will be just fine. Depending on your layout and how SPS dominant you are, you may need the 8 bulb.

Peter, my tank is 30"L x 20"D x 18"H

I bought the 8 x 24w Powermodule. But it was bought with the view to upgrade to a 93G next year.

My tank is SPS dominant with a few LPS to break up the sterile look of the bare bottom tank. I put up my fixture today and notice that with the LED and the 4 inner tubes, it lights up my tank very nicely.

A 24" unit is most likely better for you. A 36" unit will overhang and ruin the look. However, with your tank being 24" front to back, I would feel happier getting the 8 tube. A 4tube Powermodule with LED is like a 6tube (just T5). So if tube replacement cost was an issue, then you can get away with the 4 tube and locate the SPS under the light unit and LPS/softies further away.

IF it were me, I'd get the 24" 8 tube version. With the extra slots you have greater tube combo to play with and you can keep SPS ANYWHERE.

As for tube replacement costs...I dont see this as an issue. I've always loved T5's for SPS colouration and just like the need for salt, additives, fish food etc etc I see tube cost as a part of the whole cost of keeping the corals.

I just tried this combo with some older bulbs I have laying around. This is fantastic color! I'm running mostly royal blues and a little blue with very little white and red on the LEDs.

I think the color is similar to a Phoenix 14k look minus the windex staleness. The purple plus pushes enough red that it gives depth.

And I'm really happy with the shimmer off of the LEDs now too. Before I had two blue + and two aquablue plus and the color was ok! but the shimmer was gone. Plus I was bleaching nearly everything. So I feel this new combo is great for the four bulb.

Thanks for posting this. I'm extremely happy with it.

That was my original setup too but couldn't find actinic in stock when I replaced tubes so threw in a blue instead. But agree its a nice look. Now to get another actinic

I messed around with combos for over 2 weeks. Every 2-3 days I would try a new one so my eyes would adjust and give it a fair chance. This is by far the best combo. Now I am dialing in my LEDs. I need to turn the reds and white down a little during my daytime hours.

Thanks for the quick and helpful input. Appreciate it.

This thread is so informative. Great job guys. That being said, I am sooo jealous. I am going to take by TEK unit, ball, and go home LOL. Maybe someday........

No problem. Let s know which unit you bought and post some photos when you get it. :D

Get one for Xmas. You deserve one. :D

Or work extra hours/days for a few months and reward yourself to a unit. You will really like it. :love2:

I love my unit. I just came back from visiting a new LFS in my area. They have a very large showroom and have numerous LARGE displays with all the latest technology. A lot had LED's...whilst some looked nice, when I came home and saw my tank with the T5/LED I was smiling. It looks beautiful bathed in lots of light and the metal halide like shimmer.

I now have extra areas to place SPS frags...lol...every corner of the tank is bathed in light!
