Great colors Sahin! Nice work

Great looking tank Sahin!!!

Sahin,
i dont see brown corals. tank looks great pal.

Sahin the only brown corals in your tank probably suppose to be brown :) great looking sticks !
I finally color up my kedds yellow and this is currently my fastest grower !
I have alk issue so colors aren't right but very close I'm working on it ;)

Whow those colors... that is'nt only the lighting...

Some of your acro and monti colonies I recognies... but here they are still small... I love them to watch them to grow...

Is that a A. Achilles I spotted?
He is just a Tomini Tang.

Hey Sahin, I know I asked this question in your build thread but maybe this is a better place to ask..
I'm curious to know if the LEDs in these fixture really play a role in colouring up the corals or if they are simply for aesthetics.
Any 8 bulb t5 fixture (in the right reefer's hands) has the potential to make any and all sps look like jewels.
Do you really think that the LEDs make the sps look better, or do they really just give the tank that mh look by creating brightness and shimmer?

Good question Matt...
I am new to LED but i think in this fixure LED play very small roll in coloring up SPS corals in particular more of a shimmer effect.. I might be wrong:)

Matt; you are absolutely correct. An 8tube T5 unit in the right hands will absolutely produce stunning colours. I've seen it myself many times. Nothing else needed really.

As for the LED's: here is what a Hybrid unit does for me:
1. Just like when using Radiums 20K's, you get great colours, however many people add VHO Actinics which pop the colours and takes it to another level. In the same way Royal Blue LED's does this for me.

2. The White LED's add a bit of shimmer and help fill in the spectrum.

3. The ability to dim the LED's makes for nice moonlight cycles etc. Plus I can reduce intensity and increase as I like; as well as customising colour.

However, apart from the extra pop that a VHO would also give, an 8tube ATI unit will work wonders.

As for whether the LED's colour up any more; I believe the effect is just instant fluorescence...The best colours I've ever seen in person was my LFS who used to have an 8tube Sunpower over their large display.

Anyone knows the exact weight of 8x24 bulb fixture. I made a custom light rack done which attaches to my custom made stand. I took the light out of box today and it feels darn heavy like atleast 30lbs if not more . Anyone knows the exact weight bc I don't hve a weighing scale to figure

I weighed the unit: its 11kg.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment guys. And Joe, getting a compliment from you means a lot especially since you are a TOTM winner. Many thanks. :)

Tomorow we say goodbye to our good old ATI PM 10 X 54W, it did his work very well for 4 years...

On my reserge in this topic I found some interesting T5 bulbs setups, I have to recupurate the 3 mounth old bulbs...
So this is the plan (front to back):

AM Reef blue
D&D Pure Atinic
D&D Aqua Pink
AM Reef Blue
LED LED LED
AM Reef White
AM Reef Blue
D&D Atinic +
D&D Aqua Blue

In the future I'm gonna swich to ATI bulbs, a retailer nearby will provid them

The leds will start at 10%... some of the SPS are situated just under the watersurface... some just on the surface... the grow out of the tank...

Let's add some color... ;-)

Pics where taken by my S4, I spend all my money on ATI I can't afford a good camera no more ;-)
I had some PO4 en NO3 problems in the past... but is getting better now, since 8 week I do DSR... all parameters are stable now exept PO4 is a bit difficult to control... from .19 to .08 back to .14 en an hour ago .04 so... messured by Hanna.

Sahin, thanks for the info.
Well, I'm just about fed up with playing with my LEDs..
I'm about to add 2x 150w de mh in between my 3 Mitras in an attempt at further bringing out the colours of my sps. I've played for a year with the Mitras and although some corals maintain perfect colours, some do not..
So soon my tank will have 4x t5, 3 Mitras and 2x150w mh..
Now there's a mix for ya..
Sorry for the little led, mh rant in this ati thread!!

As you were, boys! :)

Hey Sahin,

Thanks for posting the video again, super! I also appreciate that you want to custumise a light profile. I'm gone a send you a PB... I put my thouths on topic...

Just got a call from my retailer, the beast arrived...

It's the 8 x 54W with 3 x 75 W led. I did a bukb change back in January... so I want to use my 'old' bulbs for a while... I can start with dimming from the start ;-)

These is my light set up till now: (back to front)

Aqua Medic Reef Blue
AM Reef white 10K
Giesemann Pure Atinic
AM Reef white 10K
AM Reef Blue
Giesemann Aqua Bleu
Giesemann Aqua Pink
Gieseman Atinic +
AM 15K
AM Reef blue

The left side of our tankt is fild with mosstly red corals, so I think about to light it with a little more red... the right side I have al couple of small ricordea colonies mayby some more fluoricent effect...

I promice to put some 'makeover' pic in this topic.

Kind regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

I just sent you a light profile. I put the LED's at 30% with T5's ramping up and down. I think this should be ok for your corals.

Sorry I couldnt send it earlier.

Hey Sahin,

I'm glad you wanted to make a lightprofile for me... Respect man!

Just to be sure I reduced the Led intensity to 15%... I'm a scared chicken what mij tank consers...

A quick question: is it posible to create an other (new) setpoint during the night? So I can let the moon shine between 5 am and start sunrise, and between sunset en 12 pm...

Sahin I want to say thanks again for all your time you want to spend on my tank, time you can't spend on enjoyning your...

If I can do someting back, let me now...

Kind regards,
Peter

Hi Peter, the ATI software currently allows only 10 points of reference to intensity for each channel. So if you want the moon phase, you need to change the current program slightly...

If you see the program I sent you, just play with it and you can create something you like. Use the video link I posted a page or so back to get familiar with the software. Trust me, play with the software, you will quickly understand how it works and you can even create custom programs for other people. :)

Wesley, I must say that is a beautiful tank!

In your combo above, you are using:
ATI Blue Plus x 3
ATI Actinic x 1
ATI Coral Plus x 3
ATI Purple Plus x 1

IMO that is plenty of Red end of the spectrum. Run LED's NUMBERS as follows:

Red: 5-10 max.
RoyalBlue: 255.
Blue: 125, go higher if you want, but I'd keep it max around 175.
White: 65 because you are already running plenty of the daylight tubes.

Hi sahin it is allmost the setting who is runnig.
In my eyes is it to much blue.
The only thing is that the led is running at 60%
Here some more pictures.

OK, try these setting:

Red: 10
Royal Blue: 200
Blue: 75
White:100

That should reduce the overall blue look.

Ok thnx and how much % led can i start with.

Greets wesley

Looking at your tank, start with 30% because you have many LPS which can bleach easily. I run my T5's and LED's at 100% intensity, but that is because I have mainly SPS and all my corals have been acclimatised well with my previous ATI hybrid unit I made myself.

I dont think you can go no more than 60% in the end or the LPS might not be happy.

That is a high PAR unit, you can increase the intensity, but keep an eye on the LPS checking to see if the tissue becomes light. Maybe your corals are already used to the high PAR.

Ok thnx i make tommorow new pictures and post them here so you can see the colour now.
Thnx for helping i,m glad you do that.
And sorry for my bad englisch.

Have a good night

Good night buddy. :) I understand your English very well. Its better than some of the native English speakers we have here in England!

Finally got mine set up!

Running:
B+
B+
C+
Fiji Purple
LED LED
GE 6500
C+
B+
B+

Was thinking to run the LED's a little more blue to compensate for the whiter bulbs.

I will say that this light is amazing, but using Parallels on a Mac to control the light seems to be problematic. I cant use the preview modes and my light is on at strange times of the day. Going to have to get a laptop just to run my light :p

Any feedback would be awesome!

Thanks.

Very nice system. Love the Red Planet colony.

With regards to the light switching on random times during the day, your light program might be the cause of that. PM me if you like with your email and I will email you so that you can send me the light profile and I will take a look and correct anything odd.
