ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Well I have decided to take the plunge and purchase a 24" 4 bulb LED Powermodule from ATI for my 30 gallon SPS dominate rimless tank. From all the research I have come across, here is the bulb combination I wish to try:

Blue+
Purple+
LED
KZ Coral Light ll New Generation
Blue+

Thoughts?
Thanks

That would be a nice combo to be honest. I bought the KZ NewGen tube a year ago to test it out. At that time I found it a bit bland (not warm enough) compared to the ATI Coral+ tube. But since the LED PM's have white LED's along with the Red channel, you can use the NewGen tube just fine.

If you have a mixed tank with a strong emphasis on LPS and softies, I would even use this combo:

ATI Actinic
ATI Purple+
---LED---
ATI Blue+
ATI Actinic

You can then make up the rest of the spectrum using the White LED's. Add a generous amount of the Royal Blue and a bit less of the Blue channel and you would have some popping colours! :D

But the combo you have chosen is just fine.

Thanks for your reply!

Your response was very helpful. My tank is going to be almost 100% SPS. I just want a tube combo that will make the corals pop but don't want it too white. I like a blue look but not too blue. I guess I could just adjust my LEDs according to my liking.

I am excited about getting this fixture.

If you are going for 100% SPS, then do consider this combo:

ATI Blue+
ATI Coral+
--LED--
ATI Blue+
ATI Coral+

Have a look at this thread to see why: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2197142

I think if you've already purchased your tubes, you are fine anyway, but if not, then really consider that 1:1 Blue+:Coral+ combo.

All in all, whatever tubes you go for, you can customise the look as you have the 4 channels of LED. :)

I have not made my bulb purchase yet. I will take your advice.

Thanks again

I tried running this, and the coral+ bulbs way overpowered everything. It was far too white for my tastes.

I do like my current setup:
Blue+
Actinic
LEDs
Blue+
Purple+

I will once I get the new tank up and cycled. Currently only have one (Reef Raft Oblivion). It's only been in the tank for a week so far.

Go for it Sahin, good to see your active....im kinda busy with planning the new tank so the current one is just maintaining. I have ordered the 8x80w hybrid though :)

Your current combo will give nice pop to corals. I wouldnt have thought that 2 Coral+ would overpower the overall appearance - you have 22watts of Royal Blue and 22watts of Blue on each cluster to counter the look. I guess personal taste is the main influence here. So what I like, you may not like.

However, your current combo is fine, you would just have to use the white LED's to ensure your corals get a full spectrum.

No probs. Grab an extra Blue+ or maybe even a purple+ to play around with combos. It all comes down to personal taste I guess.

Cool. I got the light so I might as well help out. Look forward to your 8x80w beast.

Great read these last posts. I will soon join the club.

I have ordered a 2x75w LED + 4x39w fixture for my 40x30x18" SPS dominated tank. I hope it will be more then enough ... i cant wait to replace my Maxspect RAzor with it.

But now the T5-combo madness begins...

Blue+
Blue+
LEDLED
Blue+
Blue+

or wild and crazy

Blue+
Actinic
LEDLED
Purple+/Coral+
Blue+

or sahins suggestion

Blue+
Coral+
LEDLED
Blue+
Coral+

I am not very familiar with T5 altho i have used a 6x24 Sunpower for a year. So any input is appreciated.

hello ormet

This is the conclusion I have come to. I am gonna buy the following:

Blue+
Coral+
LED
Coral+
Blue+

But I am gonna also buy a Purple+ and another Blue+
Just to play with. I am also new to T5 so I don't know exactly what I will like.
I think the Blue+ and Coral+ will be fine and will be perfect for growing SPS corals.

Good luck

Honestly we can make suggestions all day long, but at the end of it, its what looks good to you that matters.

You can see from that link I provided that the Coral+ and Blue+ colour up SPS corals VERY well.

But many people like the blue look with lots of "pop".

Also, dont forget that its not JUST the T5 combo...LOL now you got 4 channels of LED's colours added into the mix which can completely change the look of your light even if you have the same T5 tube combo as someone else.

I think overall, you will be happy with that combo. Your SPS should colour up very nicely. Remember you can run the Royal Blue Channel at 100% intensity and that will definitely push the look right into the 20K. Add around 50% of the Blue channel and you will further cool look. You can then add around 30-40% of the white channel and you will have the full spectrum covered (apart from the Actinic range...but then again the Blue+ do have some output there).

Quick ;) Thanks guys.

I'm not a fan of the windex-look but rather like to have it crispy white. I feel that blue+ emulation on the LEDS and blue+ with some coral+ might be the best for me. But then again actinic is cool ;)

The link you provided sahin i guess is proof in itself.

I can always test with some extra bulbs later so lets go 50/50 Blue+/Coral+!

I have a quick question. Recieved me ati hybrid 24" 8 bulb fixture . I can't hang this fixture from 25' high ceiling. Any sleek ideas how to install this over my tank and lord this fixture is heavy

Here's what I did. Not fun to hang, but looks super cool

Sahin,

I have the 8x80 and was wondering how you were doing your actinics with this combo? I have 2x B+ on channels 1,2,7,8 just so I can do dusk/ dawn. Are you just using the LED's for dusk dawn and having all of your tubes come on and go off at once?

Thanks

Many thanks for posting this Big E.

For anyone who doesnt know of Big E's tank, here is a link: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2197142

Have a look in thread, if you've never seen his thread, you are in for a treat. :D

I have the following combo (from front):

Blue+
Coral+
Blue+
Coral+
LED LED LED
Coral+
Blue+
Coral+
Blue+

Its a copy of Big E's T5 combo. LEd have been set up as per Big E's recommendation. Every tank is different, but I will try this for until until the end of the year. I will change if the corals dont respond well.

Hi there, I changed to 3xBlue+ and 3x Coral+ and then using 2 Actinics on the front and back. I felt like there was too much light with 4BLue+ and 4Coral+.

I had a slightly used set of Actinics lying around decided to use them.

I use the Royal Blue LED's as dusk/dawn, then the inner 4 T5's come on, and half an hour or so later, the other 4 T5's come on, they switch off in the same fashion, ending the light cycles with the Royal Blues dimming down to zero at 10.30pm.
