I have the 8tube 24" model. It is a heavy beast of a thing. I estimate at least 35lbs for the 8tube version. I never weighed it though.
what you have to remember is this is with all T5 bulbs punching PAR of 600+ on the sandbed showing this shimmer.....pull the T5 down a few notches and the shimmer is better. Still if you want the best shimmer go MH all the way
Its quite a nice light, the LEDs get rid of the flat look that T5 have and the T5 give the bright look that LED dont have
I will be taking some spectrum readings in the next few days or after easter so keep a look out
I just placed my order for the 24" 8 bulb fixture. I have had a radion pro on the tank for a year and just not happy with how dark the tank looks.
I do have a par mete to check and make sure I dont cook anything. To start I will use the led as sunrise/sun set and ramp them up over a few months. I have sps in all corners of my tank so i wanted to make sure I had full t5 coverage
I'm so excited tomget this light I have not been happy with the radon pro because of how dim the tank looked.

What T5 combo are you going to use and what PAR levels are you aiming for your corals?
I have a PAR meter as well, so we could compare results quite nicely.

Hey man would love to see what your par readings are and what kind of numbers you are keeping your corals under! I am waiting on a par meter to get some current readings before I make my switch. As you know I was having some fading problems with my 8 bulb sunpower and now that I am only running six of the bulbs things are coloring back up. Can't wait to get the new hybrid up and running!

I will start a thread I do have one on another forum I will move over. I'm getting 250 on the sand in my tank now but it will really depend on how the corals respond to the light.

Centre of tank: ALL READINGS UNDER WATER.
170-----------------630------------------160 TOP (17")

Tank is 18" high. Fixture is 10" above waterline. I cant believe I am getting 310-320 PAR on the FRONT GLASS on the bottom CORNERS!
I did all the readings with the pumps on. T5's at 100% and LED's at my own preset. I could turn all the LED's up and those numbers would jump quite a bit.
Note that the readings up the front glass are ALMOST the same. This fixture has some SERIOUS PAR, with NO HOTSPOTS and VERY UNIFORM PAR.
I also took POWER (watt) readings and the T5's use roughly 24watts each as expected.
I also took watt readings when the T5's were dimmed and the tubes use much less power...again as expected eg use abou 12 watts each when dimmed at 50%. But I noticed the power reading jumps up and down (a few watts) in the dimming stage. This I am assuming is required to keep the cathode (I think its called) at a set temperature, which is something required to keep the T5 tubes lit and functioning correctly.
I think I recall the LED's by themselves at 100% at the 255 number utilise around 73watts, which is around the number expected/advertised.
But in a nutshell, dimming does use less power.

I am thinking of getting the 36" version for my tank. Just have a couple of questions.
What did you use to hang the lights. I see you have a bracket behind the tank but can't tell what it looks like. Where did you get it from. I have a rimless 42X24X22 with hardly any space behind the tank so need to figure out a way to suspend the lights. Also my ceiling is 18 feet so hanging from there not an option.
Also how long is the cable from the light to the ballast? And does the ballast run hot? Can I place it in my cabinet without it getting too hot?

I used these shelf brackets from the hardware store. I only have a couple of inches clearance behind my tank so these worked out fine:
The cable is at least 1.5meters long. The T5 ballasts are actually inside the light fixture. The Controller contains the LED driver. It doesnt get hot at all. As long as you have decent ventilation in your sump it should be fine.
However since it is a very humid and salty environment in there, maybe you could keep the controller somewhere else like on the side of your tank cabinet?

Controller is roughly: 33cmx8cmx14cm
Suspension cables that I have are 1.5meters long, so around 60inches.
