ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

The older first generation fixtures will NOT be upgrade able in the future when new led modules are available. The second generation fixture with the newer LEDs will be able to be upgraded. I got this information from ati North America.

When I ordered my fixture I asked specifically if it was one of the newer models because I wanted to be able to upgrade the LEDs in the future. I was assured all of their stock was the new model. When it arrived it was the first generation fixture , so I sent it back and had them ship me out the newer model that I had specifically asked for.

Ok there is all this talk of upgrading a cluster. But is there even an updated cluster being released anytime soon? If so, what is new?

Time for some proof that these lights do produce RESULTS!!

I've had the lights over the aquarium for 14 months and have not changed the bulbs since day one. I haven't updated the computer software either.

The colours are great, growth is great and as a result, I feel great.

Andrew your tank is probably the most recognised reef tank in the world...your results approve the ATI LED Powermodule wholeheartedly.

It is also AWESOME that you havent needed to change the bulbs in 14 MONTHS! There are some in the long T5 thread that argue it is alright for T5 bulbs to be changed around 2-6 months period...just crazy...

I've tended to use my ATI tubes for at least 12 months with most tubes.

Man I want one....BUT...for us cube tankers a 24" ATI Hybrid with one LED module is a turnoff. Wish they weren't so darn stingy with the LEDs :(

^^^ In addition - a 24" 8x24w Sunpower is $563 compared to an 8x24 1x75w Powermodule which is $1300.

$700+ for 1 bank of LED totaling 75w is steep. I want one - but I may have to pass just on principle. I'll have to see what the Black Friday special is this year.

The LEDs spread 24" quite easily. So if the cube is 24x24, that's not an issue for the 4x24w/1x75w fixture.

JMO of course

Not a fair comparison to be honest...kinda like comparing a standard BMW 3 series 1.6Litre to an M3 and saying the price of the M3 is way too much...

Sunpower and Powermodule are completely different beasts; aesthetics, performance and build quality are all much better on the PM. Basing this on having owned Sunpowers previously and owning the LED PM.

Also, the single cluster on the 24inch model is VERY capable...and the fact that ATI use their custom made mirror finish REFLECTORS to distribute the light means the light is spread out very nicely in a 24x24 area without a hotspot...I know because I measured with my PAR meter.

Before getting the 24inch LED Powermodule, I did toy with the idea of getting a Gen2 Radion Pro and sticking 6xT5 tubes as well...but it wouldnt have looked as good...nor would the T5's have performed as well...

This light is awesome! 900 euro LED fixture in 10 months didnt even get close to the results of the 1100 euro ATI T5 LED Hybrid in less than two months!

Amazing growth! Super tank.

I also made a short movie this morning.

So after running this light for 5 weeks, I can safely say that this fixture is absolutely amazing. I have corals that haven't grown in six months now showing multiple growth tips, coral branches thickening by 50% and blue corals starting to become blue again.

I would appreciate some advice on getting the best out of the unit now, especially increasing the shimmer.

I'm currently running the LEDs on Blue+ @ 50% for 12 hours, T5 channel 1 @ 100% for 8 hours and T5 channel 2 @ 100% for 7 hours.

I realise I probably need to increase the LED, but I'm a bit nervous having bleached corals with LEDs in the past, so I would welcome suggestions on my best approach to safely increasing the shimmer in the tank, and any other recommendations to get the best out of the unit and my corals.

Thanks

Lee
