thanks for your response but are the T5 dimmable.

I too have their Pac sun doser, premium version, had to jump a lot of hurdles, like a lot to get the float sensor and optical sensor to work. even then I am afraid of using it just because there are so many issue with dosing the correct amount. Memory wiped all of sudden. but that is whole other story than the subject we are discussion here, certainly don't want to taint this wonderful thread with a Pac Sun bashing party.

Shimmer is nothing like a MH but that's just the nature of T5s.

Pacific sun support and user interface is terrible. Their programs run on crap blue tooth which is horrible and unreliable. I had their doser and couldn't even get it to accept my program using their software on Mac and PC. So after months of never being able to even use it I just sold it. Lots of cool features but that doesn't mean squat if you can't get them to work.

ATI all the way and no they don't come with bulbs.

Their website lists all that out. You could have just started there.

No, you can't add more set points than what's included.

Trust me in a few weeks you will not be playing with (or should not be playing with)
your new toy anymore.
Set it and forget it.

make a copy of your profile you already created or create a new one.

now open it as notepad

move to

from this point you will see all 10 nodes listed with time stamps.
now all you need to do is just copy and past as many nodes as you want in between.

here's what have to happen
the new nodes you added, the time must change to eailier, then the one under it.(blue highlights)
the reason of doing that is if you want the nodes to be movable in the software. this is very important!

after you edit the first, all you need to do is save and load it up with the ati software. delete other led 2-4 and copy the led 1.

i dont know how many nodes you do, since i dont know how big the memory chip that ati have inside the ballast.

since the file is only 8k, i bet you can add 1000 nodes without having issue. 1k=1024 characters. i dont know you want to that many nodes lol.

well, enjoy the additional nodes which they want you to have, come on we pay high $. i think the nodes should be free :thumbsup:

i haven't play around with the custom coloring, because it should be as simple as just adding more line to the index. since the ati software wont be able to read it, unless someone write up a program that can read it, then it's just manual edit. that would be kinda pita to do any adjustment unless you have photographic memory.

timestamp scale is in sec for those who want to do manual edit.

ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

I found a way that passed the wife test to hang the light over the tank and satisfied my desire to not use toggle bolts in drywall considering neither support lined up under a stringer.

She did not want a wood or metal strip attached to the ceiling to hang the lights from, nor did she like any kind of bracket that attached to the back of the tank or wall with the light hanging from it.

What I found where these braces that could be inserted into a standard 4" hole that would expand and lock into the stringers on either side and can support 150 pounds. They are typically used if you decide to add a ceiling fan to an already finished room. The one I used was made by Westinghouse called saf-t-brace running me $25 for a pair.

I then bought a couple of decorative plate like these, except in satin nickel, for $28 to finish it off.

My question to you all is, would the 24" fixture running font to back not give a 36" wide tank enough coverage. My thought is there are not usually coral on the back or front glass and I don't want light spilling out.

depend what you want to do.
i put zoas on tiles put them right against my front glass and i have an aussie leather touch the back glass. if you trying to do that with a 24" fixture to cover a 36" area i would say it wont be enough. i have a 5' tank with a 4" ati over it, i cant get my chalices to color up at each end, that's why i upgrade to the 5' model, which give me 100% cover over the tank now. the chalices like that much better too.

If money is not a factor then the best way would be to place them front to back to give 100% coverage. Having said that, I think that is overkill. Most people use these fixtures on 36" wide tanks and have no issues for the exact reason you stated. You should be able to place them end to end and not have any issues growing whatever you want under these fixtures, they are extremely powerful.

Many people use fixtures that are 1 foot smaller then their tanks and have no issues at all. I am going to be setting up a 120" x 34.5" x 30" tank and will be using 2 x 60" fixtures end to end.

I've officially joined the club. Got a 24" LED T5 PowerModule Hybrid. For the last 2 years, I used a Radion XR30w Pro over my 30 gallon tank. LPS and SPS plate corals did fine. However, I've had no success growing branching SPS corals. Lots of color and tissue loss in areas with shadowing. I hope the new light solves my problems. Time will tell.

T5s and LEDs ramp up to 50%. T5s overlap. The setpoints for LEDs are:

Blue (Royalblue 255)

Purple (Red 20, Royalblue 255, Blue 172, White 90)

Yes, it's a 4 tube unit. Someone posted a question about whether the T5s wash out the shimmer and I was concerned about this as well. However, I'm getting way more shimmer than my Radion. It's more like a Kessil.
