ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Yes, it's a 4 tube unit. Someone posted a question about whether the T5s wash out the shimmer and I was concerned about this as well. However, I'm getting way more shimmer than my Radion. It's more like a Kessil.

My experience says otherwise, but of course there are other factors that impact shimmer. I just last week removed 4 360s for a 48" unit and the shimmer is substantially less and has a much less natural look to it. I find the "shimmer" is much closer to that of radions, but just more so. Again, our difference could be the led programming and amount of surface agitation.

Yep, I think the big difference here is that he is running the T5s at 50%. I have the 36" 4 bulb and run my t5 at 100%. I don't see shimmer unless my leds are at 100% which would fry my corals.

I'm running my 8 X t5s ( 4x b+, 3x c+ , 1 act) at 100pct right now during the burn in period for the bulbs, my LEDs are at 60 pct (100 r/255rb/255b/50w) and I'm 12" above the water line with an enormous amount of surface agitation. I Have a lot of shimmer, but it's just different than the kessils. The look was so much more natural imo that what I have now. When I first put kessils on the tank, Initially replacing my t5s, my kids said, "wow dad, it looks like the ocean now". I like the kessils so much that went with a 48" unit (62" tank) and plan on putting a Kessil on each end once the brackets I have being made are completed. For awhile I debated buying 2 4 bulb units and running the kessils down the middle or just the 8 bulb sun power and running a Kessil on each corner.

This thing is a PAR monster! I'm getting 650 par at 8" below the water line (20" from the light). I'm really glad I went with the 48" unit to be able to dim those t5s. The 60" not being dimmable here in the states was the other reason I went 48" along with the extra $350 shipping charge they add to the larger unit.

I'm still playing with various bulb and led settings.

Yeah that's crazy! Glad it didn't start a fire, seeing the black on there is definitely concerning. I hope ATI can make things right, these fixtures are not cheap and we pay that premium for things like this not to happen. I understand the occasional malfunction but seeing stuff turn black like it's burning is unacceptable.

Well they are not exactly making it right.

Going to make me pay $35each for the reflectors.......bit dodgy if you ask me

And to make matters worse, this Australian distributor only orders 4times a year. And as they have just placed an order, i have to wait a minimum of 3 months (plus my $70) to get some reflectors.

Not right

what's the reason they make you pay?

what's the reason they make you pay?

After 10 or so emails between ATi direct, and the Aus supplier, they have agreed to replaced the reflectors free of charge. I just need to pay for shipping.

Good outcome.

They are out of warranty, but still not expecting a critical part to melt!

Whats the best way to go about cleaning and maitaining the fans on the units , seems hard to remove the fans , or do you have to remove the complete outer shell ? Few of my fans stopped working and i wanted to take the fans out and give a bit of love

yeah i used a can of compressed air , that fixed 2 straight off the bat , the others were being a bit trickier , i took the metal ATI logos off and manually cleaned all the fans other than the led fans as they are locked under the hood a bit more , unit seems happy now :) i think there should be a setting on the unit where if fixture gets over certain temp it shuts off tho

Does anyone know where i can get firmware from please? i have tried ATI Germany & North America and i cant find it, i am sure it used to be available as i downloaded it to upgrade my original controller.

Are there any known incompatibilities between controllers on different h/w & f/w versions?

Thanks

So had my first encounter of T5s and high temps today - the tank is sitting at 27.2 C, and it's meant to be hotter tomorrow.

I definitely need to install fans but wondered if you guys either decreased the photo period or just used the LEDs during the hot days?

What about using all the bulbs but keeping the fixture a little higher?

I bet you lose less par that way and maybe solve your temp problem too

How many powercords does the 4 bulb unit have? I have an 8 bulb sunpower now I'm wanting to upgrade but I don't have any more apex spots open.

Are there any updates on the midday LED burst method of programming this light? Is it ok to start using this program from the start, or to wean the SPS onto it slowly?

Replace relay

Replace relay

Hi Guys,

I have an issue with my new 4x75W LED & 8x80W dimmable T5 Powermodule, where the channel 2 (inner 4) tubes do not turn off completely even when they are at 0%. The lower they go is at a constant dimmed state. This has been going on since day 1 when i got the fixture about a month ago. The unit works OK other than that and so far I love it.
I contacted support and after some troubleshooting they concluded that this should be due to a faulty relay. I opted to be sent a replacement relay instead of going through a warranty claim but i cannot find any info on the web for this procedure and no one mentioning that they have done this.
Does anyone have any photos or detailed instructions on how to go about changing a relay in the control box? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I had this issue as well. Issue was a faulty controller box. After much hassle I finally got a replacement controller box and the issue was fixed.
