ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

What is enough shimmer to one person won't be nearly enough for another. I have an 8 bulb unit. If you are hoping someone will tell you that you can have the shimmer of a tank full of kessils from this unit you will never hear that. The more bulbs you go on this unit the less that shimmer is going to stand out. You will see some very faint amounts of shimmer but no it will not jump out at you like an all LED lit tank will.

The thing that makes T5 lighting so great is its diffusion. It's also something that limits one of the pros of the LED lighting which is the aesthetic appeal such as shimmer effect. It's very hard to have both without sacrificing something important.

Couldn't agree more. I initially had 10 t5s and thought my tank looked great. Then I pulled the middle 2 t5s and dropped in a row of kessils. It was shimmer overload and initially I hated it. I was very new to the hobby and really had not seen any other tanks. When my kids saw the shimmer they said my tank looks like the ocean. I quickly grew to love the shimmer and since then I've seen many many led set ups and even have a radion over my frag tan. I don't even call what other LEDs produce as shimmer. I put a Kessil on each end of my 48" ATI hybrid and there is a noticeable division where the kessils end. I'm Catullus thinking of adding back to more. I considered buying 2 4 bulb t5s and running kessils down the middle, but thought it was going to look to busy so I went with the hybrid unit. I kinda wish I went with my original plan. Once you get used to Kessil shimmer, everything else pales in comparison.

Pick the biggest one that fits over your tank. I don't know the dimensions of each off the top of my head but I think it may be wider thank 19.5" I can't remember.

The 8 bulb will push it off the tank ~0.5-1 inches front and back so it could work. The tank would really be covered at each corner with light.

But I guess I'm concerned that the 8 bulb might dry the corals unless I keep hte light raised high, which might spill light.

New to Reef Central and ATI...having issues with software and/or T5s

New to Reef Central and ATI...having issues with software and/or T5s

Just recently setup my new ATI 36" 8 bulb LED T5 power module, run the demo and downloaded software. All the T5 lights come on during demo but after I adjusted settings the front two T5 lights in Channel 1 will not come on? I uninstalled the software app, reset factory settings on control box and re-downloaded app...still having same problem, front 2 T5 lights are OFF. Any help or suggestions is much appreciated!

Also- if anyone could send me instructions on how to program light settings on control box that would be great!

Thanks

For a 78x36x27 tall tank, would you recommend the ATI hybrid, or two 4 bulb sunpowers sandwiching a pair of Kessil ap700?

This is an in wall build, so appearances don't matter.

Do most of you folks find the LEDs worth the extra cost? T5 only sure is less expensive...

I want the shimmer, but if it's causing coral to brown out or bleach, what's the point?

If I had to do it over again I would go without the LED's and save the money.
My tank is 30" wide and I put a reefbright blue strip on each side for dawn and dusk.

Set it and forget it!! all the bells and whistles gets old real quick.
Then you can focus on what other toy(yes it's a toy you justify)you want to spend your money on.
You can tell yourself all you want that your dooing this for your coral and fish but the simple truth is it's not necessary.

O let me say IMOP so no one takes offense lol

I agree, I'm using my kessils simply for shimmer for my enjoyment at this point. [emoji106]

I wouldn't buy them for that purpose, but I had them on head after converting to the ATI hybrid. I can't look at my tank with just t5s on anymore. Now, I had no issue at all with all t5s when I first started, but aft you have Kessil shimmer there is just no gong back for me.

anyone seen the video of ATI at interzoo 2016? there is a 6 bulb LED hybrid with black finish housing (and a white housing one hanging over the tank too). The T5 reflectors seem to be wider than the current?

If someone that understands the language can give a brief explanation of what they are saying would be great!

I can't give you a translation but I did speak with a rep at ATI N. Am and was informed that it has yet to hit the market and even if it does, is not certain that it would make its way to North America. That said, the lead time on distribution is a long ways from now... I don't know what their thoughts were on only having a 4 or 8 bulb option... I could really use a 6 bulb...

If thats true then I think ati really owe us in the NA region a good explanation as to why they won't let the 6 bulb to make it over the pond. 6 bulb would be perfect for my tank size.

Hey

I'm Joakim. I'm 36 years old and I live in Ruien (Belgium). I have a zeequarium (600 l) already 7 years. Since the day before yesterday I have a new ATI Hybrid LED - T5. 3 x 75 watt LED and 8 x 54 watt T5.
Before that I had the Pacific sun Hyperion R2 LED with additional T5 lamps.

I like to share my setup:

- Coral +
- Blue +
- Coral +
- Aqua bleu spec
LED LED LED
- Coral +
- Blue +
- Coral +
- Blue +

The LEDs at 40% with these settings.
- Red: 15
- Royal Blue: 255
- Blue: 255
- White: 153
what do you think about this institution? My English is not 100% correct, sorry for that.

Joakim

The first picture below is my setting and resulting PAR. Fixture is 7-9" from water line with 7" being in the front. Alk=9 Bulb setting is:
B+
C+
B+
PP
LED
Ac
B+
C+
B+ (Front)

Recently lowered LED intensity (from 100%) and some of my corals went from pale to getting colors again (should note I have very little nutrients (non-detectable). Had a 1dkh alk swing 2 months ago so corals are recovering. Here is where I will leave it for another month. Par readings are from Mid day (LED 255-RB 200-B 100-W 0-R).

For comparison, this is my PAR if I bump LED to 100% midday. Some inconsistent correalation to the first shot but the water movement was different on the left side of the tank (calmer here)

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
