I'd wait too, but I'd be getting them a light so they could stay happy and keep laying healthy eggs. Put the Maroons in the 120 and wait n see if they'll spawn, it could be awhile.
You seem to be getting in rhythm too, better and better success.
Good luck either way.

I would wait also. Oh yeah .. Congrats on the second child. Geez, I didn't know breeding was contagious ! :D

They did not lay any eggs yesterday. Probably today.

Will removing the eggs from the father and then putting them back cause any problems.

Thanks

Congrats on the new baby on the way.

I don't know what would happen if the nest was removed and them put back but if i remember correctly i read a thread where someone had moved the tile due to it falling over or something like that and the clowns consumed the eggs.

Probably just best to wait, but what do i know, lol. I would think the maroons would be happier in the new 120. You could always pick up a used light for the other tank.

Well it's offical I have gotten ride of my first 5 clowns. He told me he paid between $10 - $14 per fish from distributor. I told him that if he gave me $10.00 I would be more than happy and would also give him exclusive first pick of all my fish. It looks like I have my first deal. He couldn't believe the colour of my fish and how healthy they looked. He said he is going to advertise them as locally grown. It's hard to explain how happy he was for me. I have been going to his store for years so he knows what I've gone through to get these fish.

I have to go away for a week at the end of July and needed sombody to watch all my fish. He told me that he would watch all my fish for 9 days for 15 Clowns. I was pumped about that because the other company I called wanted $75.00 / visit. OUCH! So my first five clowns have gone towards my tank sitter.

I was very sad to see them go :(

My clowns finally laid the eggs tonight. Now I have to decide what to do with my new tank. I am not looking forward to moving the tank. I really don't want them to stop laying eggs.

Congrats ! That's great news ! The barter system a still alive and well.
Captive breed clowns are worth the extra money you and the LFS charge. Try a few other stores in you area, and don't forget to take a few sample fish with you.

Congrats! And that sounds like a very good price. How old were the fish that you just sold? The colors on mine look very nice too and I know this will be a big selling feature when mine are ready to go. It will be a big selling tool!

I bet you bought more fish supplies with that first check! ;)

The clowns I sold were born the end of January. So ~5 months.

I traded the fish for tank sitting time at the end of July.

The clowns are now in a rubber maid tub activlely supervising the eggs. I have a heater and a powerhead in the rubber maid. My 120 is now half full. I will be updateing my build thread soon.

Thanks for everyones advice. Hopefully once they are settled in their new tank they will continue to spawn.

All my fish are now in my new tank.

I have the rocks setup almost exactly the same as my 30 so their surroundings should be familiar to them. I placed the tile with the eggs on them right beneath the anemone where it was before. I then transfered the male into the tank. He found the eggs in a matter of seconds and began his fatherly duty again. The female went to the far corner of the tank and I guided her back to the other side with the net. She found the 2nd of 3 anemone's I have in the tank. I am sure within no time she will be back with the male.

I justed wanted to thank everyone for their advice on waiting until after the eggs had hatched. It seems like because they had the eggs they were acting as normal as could be. Now lets just hope they continue on like nothing had happended.

Here is a pic of the tank I took a little bit before adding the fish.

I lost about 25 (50%) of my fish last night in one of my tanks. I believe the cause was oxygen depletion.

The remaining fish were swimming at the top of the water breathing very rapidly. I feed BBS and none of them were intereseted. I added a lot fresh water to the tank and increased the bubbles. The temperature felt pretty warm as well.

Ammonia level was 0, so it wasen't that.

Sound like oxygen deprivation to me too. What was the temp of the water ? How strong is the air flow through the air stone ?

I don't use airstones I just use airline. The bubbler had come loose and was almost at the top of the water.

I didn't get a temp reading! It just felt warm. However I had my hands in water the was 70 all weekend so it may have just felt warm.

How are the survivors doing today ?

We shall see when I get home!

I'd use an airstone it gives you longer before the oxygen levels drop to dangerous levels.. I lost alot of fish to the same problem...
