I'm going to try and get a pic of the eggs everyday to show the development progression. I know people have been asking to see it.

Day 2 eggs photo

Eggs are not as orange as when they were first layed. No noticable eyes yet.

Just ordered my otohime starter pack from reef aquatica.

The kit comes with the following
This starter kit contains 100g of each:

Otohime A, 250 micron diet
Otohime B1, 200-360 micron diet
Otohime B2, 360-620 micron diet
Otohime C1 = 620-920 micron
Otohime C2 = 920-1410 micron

Very informative thread, appreciate you documenting it.

Now I need to add an air line under my little nursery...did not think of something keeping them moving about (eggs/almost fry)

Thank you....

Yes if you do not keep the eggs moving and oxygenated they wil get a bacterial infection and turn white. However be careful as too much movement will cause physical damage and they will perish in the first 24 hours, no matter how much food they have.

The female of the pair I recently purchased appears to be getting bigger and possibly holding eggs.

I had put these clowns in my sump as a temporary location and have not yet had the chance to get a permanent system together. I had placed them in the refugium section but they kept jumping to the return section so I left them there. With them being in my sump they are on a reverse lighting cycle (11PM - Noon). What affect will transferring the eggs to a system on a daytime 16 hour light cycle have?

This all may be a little premature as they may not even like my tile since I have no idea the area they have chosen for these eggs and in the previous tank they were eating the eggs. Wish me luck.

My otohime arrived in the mail today so we shall see how they like it tonight when I get home.

My rotifers look better but not really sure as it has taken a couple of days for the phyto to lighten in the culture. I may pick up some more rotifers Saturday morning to give them a boost.

this has got to be the most interesting thread i've seen
i would love to have some fish that spawned and gave me some cute babies!
i had betta spawn but the daddy didnt wanna take care of his little eggs...was his first batch so maybe he didnt know any better

looks like alot of hard work but i bet when its all said and done its worth it a million times over

Well I did not see any eggs and the clowns belly is not full anymore. I did not see the oviposter so maybe she was just a pig that night. Oh Well.

I was looking at my rots this morning and it was packed so I split the culture and now have two pretty good cultures on the go. With them hatching Saturday night I'm hoping I can have a good hatch.

I have seen others getting 300-400 to grow-out I'm hoping I can get there.

You were running only 1 culture FB? I don't know how you do it. I use 3... Maybe I feed too much.. Or maybe you look after yours better so you get better density :) I wish I was getting 3-400 to grow out.. B&W's have a poor survival rate so it may be a pipe dream.. Good luck Saturday night.

I had only one culture and it was crap. This is why the previous batch got bbs on day 2. I have done nothing but get the one culture going again. I finally was able to split it yesterday. I may be able to split it again tomorrow, to have 3 good ones.

I am not getting 3-400 currently only 100. I want to get up to 3-400 but don't know what to do differently. I was over on MOFIB and they think it might be parent nutrition. I don't know maybe it's just a dream.

I have heard B&W's have a poor survival rate I wonder why. I have been looking for a pair of B&W's for ever I can't even find 1 for that matter.

Ah ok you have 2. I was beginning to think you were starving all yours to death hehe. 100 is really low for the amount of eggs you are getting. I don't know about the diet thing.. Maybe. You'll figure it out I'm sure. It sometimes is the small things that make a big difference it seems. I know where you can get a couple Black Juvies :)

My eggs are a couple days away from hatching now. I have had no luck with my phyto culture but my rotifer culture seems to be doing well. My wife was able to bring a microscope home from work this weekend so I was able to take a look at what was going on. I don't think I have enough to raise this batch but I sure am going to try. I have started a second batch of rotifers on Saturday, hopefully this batch will be more than ready for the next batch in about 3 weeks. I am just buying phyto to feed the rotifers until I can get a viable phyto culture. I plan on co-culturing my rotifers in the larvae tank hopefully my rotifers keep growing as my clowns eat them up and this can get me through to the brine shrimp stage.

Anyway here is a pick of my rotifer. (I posted this in my other forum

What magnification was this? I'm thinking of getting a microscope.

I don't know and the microscope was borrowed so I can't even go and look for you. If I had to guess I would think it was 40X.

That's kind of what I was thinking. After talking with Abby from Seahorse Source, she said I would probably be able to see the Rot's and stuff well at 10x. I should probably just get a low powered microscope then since I probably won't be doing any Stem Cell Research on clowns! LOL

Update on my clowns: I think this is day 7 (ish) and still no hatch but I can clearly see the "silver eyes". Mom and Pop are still fanning away! I'm not getting much sleep trying to keep and eye on them. (I guess I should get used to the "lack of sleep" thing!) LOL

I still haven't set up a larvae catcher either because I can't keep the tank down 24/7. I'm trying to devise a catcher that can either go in front of the overflow or one that has enough power head(s) in it that I can just keep it running on it's own and still provide propper flow.
