Aurora Borealis in Alaska

Well, I definitely need to find a good spot to shoot around my house. The best place I could find on short notice had power lines, but it seemed a crime not to shoot the Northern Lights just because the view wasnt perfect.

And yes, techincally there was a lot I could do to these shots to make them better, like put the city lights in focus ;) But I just wanted to capture the moment. Hope you guys like them.

Very niiice..........thanks for sharing. The Aurora B. is so awesome!

I wouldn't mind just seeing some star light shots without the Aurora shining.

I'll deal with the deficiencies. I really just hope I get the chance to shoot them before I drop. Beautiful!!!!

Stop being so lazy and photoshop those powerlines outta there! ;)

I get your posting dilemma and am glad you decided to post, even with the powerlines. Thank you. That is some sweet natural phenomenon.

Come on up! It's a great place to visit. I'm still not to sure about living here ;) but visiting during the summer/fall would be great.

The powerlines give the pics some perspective. Love the pics.
Glad you liked them. I like and dislike the powerlines at the same time. It definitely makes it not feel like a "out in Nature" type of shot, but at the same time it adds something.

Beautiful as always.
This is my standard answer whenever my wife asks me how she looks.

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing with those of us that are too far south.
No problem!

Hah, I still view editing things like entire power lines out of a photo as "cheating" and try not to do it :) If I really cared, I would have worked harder to find a good spot to take a picture.

LOL - geeze man, what he said ;).

It was unreal, wasn't it??
It was great. I havent seen them for years, like 8-10 years. I might have a couple years back but it was just a dull green line. I hope this winter is good! This trip I had my two kids and my wife with me so I was kind of distracted, I would like to try again once it's colder and they wont want to come out :)

Nice, must be incredible to be in a city or town and see that!
It is nice, if you can stand the 8 months of winter I definitely recommend Alaska!

If this was last week I'm happy to have shared them. I was moose hunting and it was simply outstanding. Swore neck... :). Great photos. Thanks
