Auto Glass repair shop needed

Yesterday I discovered a 10 inch scratch on my windshield. I dont say crack only because it doesnt penetrate completely but I'm sure its a matter of time. I remember hearing something hit my windshield when I was driving home from D.C. but didnt see anything at the time. Can anyone recommend an auto glass repair shop that wont rip me off? I'm in the Stony Brook/Port Jeff area. Thanks.

If you have comprehensive insurance coverage, there is no deductable for glass in New York state. Just call your carrier.

Some windshields can be repaired. It depends on the damage.

On Crystal Brook Hollow rd just north of 347 there is a glass shop on the right hand side. I forgot the name.

Hildreths Glass is the name. They work with most insurance companies. They have been doing winshields for many moons. I think that there is another glass shop about a mile east of them on the south side of 25A also.

thanks. i didnt realize the no-deductible part but I could have sworn that glass coverage was optional. even if it wasn't, my premium would go up if i made a claim, no ?

Call your insurance company and ask what coverage you have if you are unsure. I have had a windshield replaced in the past without it effecting my premium. Good luck.

Called Geico and they informed me that I did pay for the glass coverage - $4 - and in NYS there is deductible. I asked if a claim will end up raising my premiums. The guy said that the underwriters have a right to consider everything in the file when they review the policy for renewal but generally this doesnt affect premiums. They even work with a company that comes to the house and does the repair. I hope this doesnt bite me in the *** when I go to renew.

I've had glass work done through Geico and have had no problems with my premiums going up.

A friend owns a glass shop in Ronkonkoma. Victory Auto Glass on Johnson Ave. 738-8900 - They will come to you, either at home or at your work and do the repair for you.

Just had a rear window done by Safelight thru insurance.
They also do repairs @ home or wherever.
