i have a baby blue hippo tang that hangs out with my fake perk and maroon clown pair all day (i know crazy pair of clowns) but at night leaves them and sleeps really snugly in between two pieces of live rock while the clowns go to their corner to sleep is this normal for him/her to sleep in such a tight spot i have lots of hiding places and several caves?

In the wild, blue tangs live in the acropora staghorn heads and can with stand a slight anemone sting as well due to there capacity to with stand coral polyp stings where they hide at night and go to and from during the day, similar to yours in a way.
They instinctively know the clowns capacity to with stand anemones stings so they see them as similar.
Here are some with their coral head home till around 5 inches or so and they wedge in cracks and gaps at night from then on.

I had a 6" hippo get stuck between two rocks and die over night. Had him for almost 3 years before that with no problem

That’s sad, but usually it is as they die they wedge in, blue tangs are amazing at where they can squeeze in and equally get out of late on, unless the live rock was unstable and it moved onto it.
Most reef fish wedge in as they are about to die from what ever.

Sorry to hear that :sad2:

Every single flame angel I had did the same thing and got the same results.

Is there a specific rock formation/structure recommended for blue tangs? (overhang, cave, open space, etc etc..)

Where was that picture taken? Which exact reef or was it an aquarium?
