Back by popular demand: SCMAS/Marine Depot "Scratch n Dent" Sale on 6/28/08 (Part 2)

I had a blast today... I'd like to thank the guys who provided great help... Greg (gcarroll) and Jay (sps4mytank). Very cool people to hang out with, I just wish I live in OC!

Anyways, I scored a 400w PFO MH ballast for $35, G-Man Megachrome 250w bulb for $40, TFC membrane for $27, and CoralVue 400w for $25. There were less 'good stuff' this time compared to the last one, and some of the pricess went up....the additives outside used to be $1 ea. and now they're $5 each :(

When I left the building, my wife told me there was a scuffle on the parking lot (REEFER FIGHT! lol) I missed it and I have no idea who they are and what they were arguing about..

Oh well.. a good day overall, and I'm happy!

Are you kidding me! I missed a reefer fight. Man that must have been for a good reason. I thought everyone was cool.

No punches thrown, just a yelling match. They both MOVED ON after that :p

News to me. I was there fairly late and I didn't see anything unfriendly at all...

Nice event; everyone wins. MD gets to get rid of some damaged merchandise, SCMAS gets a few bucks for the club kitty, and US REEFERS get to save a few bucks, too!

All in all a very good day...

:)

I left after everyone and was outside all day watching the pallet of salt...nothing as far as yelling seen. So not sure if this really happened or not.

Was a great event. Thanks to Marine Depot for their generosity.

Thanks to Greg, he really helped me out a lot.

I scored a Euroreef rs 80, looks brand new for 90 sumthin dollars

a PFO 250/400 pendant for 40 bucks

a 250W ballast brand new for 40 bucks (dont know the brand)

some other small stuff too, I left very happy :)

I got myself a PP Salinity Monitor and brand new mrc-rc2 dual that included the spray bar and the pump. Missed out on a sweet 48' light but then ordered a ac jr so its all good.

yeah I got some great deals this time as well.
I scored 2 koralias 4 for 18 each both new only had a missing pieces which I swap for other that were there. Also got a 1262 ehiem for 56.00, an aquamedic 2x250 oceanlight but no ballast for 200 and two lrg containers of rowa for $2 each

Maybe that's why my K3 was laying next to the test bucket... ;) you took my magnet/suction cup mount thing! That's ok I took one off the K2 I picked up, tested, and didn't work... :D Also swapped the cracked collection cup on the Remora I bought with one with a cracked base.. :D I am guilty... But why have 2 broken items instead of one NEW and one REALLY broken item? :D

Thanks again Marine Depot!

my dad even liked spending this money and brought up all the stuff we bought on the internet and his GF even agreed that it was a good buy

hahahaha actually Alycia, I was helping out so I unpacked some of the stuff before they let people in. So I found all the koralias inside a box that no one opened at the first event. But once I started setting them up people started to get them. Oh and one of them seemed like it did not work but a little elbow grease and it was working just like a new one.

gosh! i have to stop going to these things, I act like my wife at the mall with a sale, now what did i need a 500 gallon calcium reactor for again?

Glad you guys are all enjoying your bargains! It is like a being a kid in a candy store for me! even thought I have been working with it all week Every time I walked through, I saw something else I could use someday soon. Thank you for supporting SCMAS and Marine Depot.

Thank you to all the SCMAS members that helped make it a successful sale! It really is appreciated by both the club and Marine Depot. It was a lot of work, but a fun day.

Steve

I'd like to thank Steve & all those with Marine Depot that put this whole thing together. We, as a club, are very thankful for your support............ :D

Lam,
Let me know if you decide that you do not like the CA reactor

I got a phos reactor for $14 (thanks to Lam pointing that out) and a bag of salt for $5.

Thanks to all those that came out for these two events. They were huge successes for the club. A very big thinks to Marine Depot for allowing this awesome event to happen. Also a very special thanks to Ben (celticfan on RC :D), My brother Steve (laverda on RC), Pedro, Ken, and the rest of the Marine Depot employees that helped out. Also a big thanks to the overwhelming support of the SCMAS members that volunteered to help out at this event. It is great to see what we can do when we all come together. I haven't seen that type of participation in some time. I will inqure as to if this can be a regular event. Maybe yearly?
