If this is the case then the clown in the photo is not Bali Aquarich clown. While this particular fish store does not buy livestock from whole sellers, there is another store that carries the same clowns in appearance and size. You can tell the clowns are from the same breeder. The latter store strictly buys from a whole seller and never goes to LAX to pick up newly imported fish that has not gone to whole sellers yet. So the clown must have been bred locally and the term "Bali" has been used far too liberally to describe Picasso clowns in my area.

CA, my comment was directed at MJ and has no bearing on any fish posted in this thread previously.
However, fish from Bali Aquarich are becoming more popular in our local area and some stores are starting to carry them...

What's interesting is there's is a store in San Fernando Valley that has what appears to be a nice Bali Aquarich clown for $300 but they call it "Black Cap Picasso". Go figure. Haha

That is a valid name. Bali Black Cap Picassos could be P1, P2, P3 depending on grade.

From Bali Aquarich... Mostly a west coast name from what I've seen, as the west coast importer uses that term.

Bali aquarich has 2 types of picasso percula the A1 back 2 years ago where 45$ from bali and 80$ for p1's by now maybe wen pin su drop a few Dollars or not. Before at first wen pin su used to sell the p1 for 80$ p2 for 50$ p3 for 30$ and send nice fish no names just grading the A1 A2 A 3 are lower grades picasso I would now buy those they are to dull no black .they look like SA' or sea n reefs with no character in them .just my opinion. A fish collector/vender started marketing them in the usa becuase he got a few with facial markings .he started calling them "cheek marks becuase in a bali at first u would get 4 out of 100" P" series balis .and lucky if you got a parcial helmet one.one of the first 2 pairs sold in live aquaria was a what we consider a" nebula "but was considered regular p1 .that pair was purchased by a guy name (chad I believe "c-blazed")now own by rudy Vasquez from texas.so wen pin su notice that these were in high demand and started locking the gene pool up n making hundreds of them and he started naming them , he has name like nebula, worrior.n the cap name .but I still feel he's sending us the left over .and dubai n all these asian n European countries are getting what we were getting the firs year.

Very nice pair of picassos. Have you seen the ORA true percs listed on DD last week? They have that washed off "Nebula" look to them.

Nice ORA pair. Back in the days, there was pride in owning an ORA Picasso. Nowadays, no one wants their overly inbred defects.

D Nak while we don't know the conditions that Clownfish is currently in and what is being fed. So colors could have dulled. As the pinched head goes it is a possibility he could have one. Wen Ping doesn't hand pick every fish and has staff to help. When dealing with thousands of clownfish a day sometimes defects slips through.

Black Cap is a California thing... Wen Ping does have a Black Helmet Picasso now. It is a P grade with a helmet.

just got my bali aquarich clowns from tankbredaquatics. they are some of the best clowns i have ever had.

I bought my male picasso from tba although he is not bali.
