yeah, something like that.... :)

To me, any tank you need to GET IN to clean it, needs it's own room, and/or draws more electricity than my entire apt does per month, is needs an admission charge!

Just from looking at the tanks in the Large Tank Forum, my jaw drops when I realized that a tank like a 180 is on the smaller side of "Large"

Man this pad is going to be sick! I would never leave home. Not even for my own funeral!

Just encase me in some clear casting resin and throw me in the tank!

Yeah, good question. Is bill scuba certified? What is the plan to aquascape? I remember reading 8 feet deep somewhere back there...

Very nice.

I can't wait to see the final product.

The cool thing - I think - is that Bill is doing a lot of the work himself. He doesn't *seem* to be some rich dude paying a ton of money to have a kick-butt aquarium. If you ask me, half the fun is the tinkering and maintenance.

agreed - im sad when i have nothing left to engineer - or tinker on. but then i try and find something else to tinker on... alot can be done on a reef tank for sure..

hey spazz on a kinda side note - have you guys thought up using a really tall phosban reactor thats wider than the tlf reactor to 1) slow down the water velocity - more volume / less speed and 2) allow the media a longer time to settle back down before being whooshed out the output hose - into the aquarium. Im working on one now - its going to be around 3' x 6"and hold maybe 6" of media max (depending upon how the media reacts) - but i cant justify 100 in acrylic tube so its going to pvc with a length wise window of plastic. eh oh well...

i am aware of putting the "effluent" into the skimmer but i figured this may help the problem too... youd probably need a 20"x 6' reactor for this tank tho lolol

right now energy has a 24" tall x 6" reacotr he is testing on his system. if that is not tall enough i would just build them 36" tall. but i aslo am testing an adjustable diffuser plate to see if it helps ot keep the media from going to the top of the reactor. if that helps i dont think the reacotr will need to be any taler than 24" for a smaller tank and 36" for larger tanks.

i dont know what bills plans are for this yet. he needs to get the aquaruim up and running first. then figure out how he plans to show the world this magnificent aquarium. all it good time. lol

all the water has to go through millions of bubbles before it can reach the bottom of the skimmer. that would be like trying to ga against the flow of rush hour traffic. your not going to get there real fast. so its increasing dwell time and being mixed around inside the main chamber. bill did a test one time with some food coloring. he injected food coloring into the intake pump that feeds the skimmer. it took 15 mins for the skmmer to clear up. so that gives a good indication of how long the water really dwells in the skimmer. the longer the water can be inside the skimmer the cleaner it wil be when it exits the skimmer. alot of that has to do with bombardment rate also. you need to have a high air to water ratio in order to clean the water properly. so to do that you need tones of super fine bubbles.

SO the water enters at the top of the skimmer, and exits (by pump) out at the bottom, Right??? how is the air added???...........My 15 year old brain just does not get "it" :mad2: :mad2: :mad2::lol:   ..............I was going to make a regular one when I start my 30g nano system, but IF this kind is not out of my league I won't mind giving it a shot..........It is a great idea!!!!!.................Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andrew
