BB Demons

No, im just saying a lot of the older BB systems are having this problem as opposed to the younger versions. Just being rude, dont mind me. :)

drock, no there not. Point one out that is set up with a becket skimmer skimming wet and high flow.

Weathermans "problem" is not your typical problem.

This is the first BB system I have ever heard of having this problem, and there are plenty of old BB systems out there. 64ivy's is over 10 years old.

Will the UV destroy said nematocysts? If so i will be purchasing one immediately.

I know Bomber runs a UV on his tank and has never had these problems to my knowledge.

I believe 100% they will destroy said nematocysts.

Wait, I think you mean that the corals are so healthy and happy in weathermans BB system, that they want to take over the tank. If so, I agree.

That thread is discussing sps color fading when the water is super clean. That does seem to be a commen problem, but you just get to put in a few more fish, and get to feed a little more often.

That seems to have fixed the problem for most, including me.

If it was a typical problem, it would be easy to solve. :)

Having something, with suddenly kills both the hardiest and finickiest members of the Acroporid Family, while leaving other scleractinians alone. Thatââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s unusual.

Ya, why can't you be happy with the "normal" problems? You just have to go out and invent one of your own :rolleye1:

original post was: Anybody else have some strange phenomenon happen in their BB tanks? I get good acro growth, but for some reason monti caps grow about 1/16th of an inch per 6 months. Have no problems with Rics either - they grow like weeds.

Weathermans problem is a big problem but not the only one being discussed here.

As far as I'm concerned, we solved your problem ;) :p

Oh sure... blame it on my poor, old Pocillopora. :D

BTW, I don't consider it to be a major problem, since my tanks have never been dominated by Acros or Montis. I happen to be more of a fan of Pocilloporids than Acroporids. :)

drock59's post made me think of something.

Was the orignal poster running carbon (is the orignal poster still checking back)? Chemical warfare doesn't only cause outright death, it can also impeed growth.

No, my caps grew 5" in two days since I posted this thread. JK :)

I started this thread to see if anyone else is having strange issues with bb tanks. My problems (if you want to call them problems) are still there.

js I put a cap in my tank like 3 months ago.

I just noticed today all of the edges are turning white. Maybe they need more time to settle??

I've had these caps over a year. Almost no growth - and that's leaving them alone with multiple frags at different tank locations. Maybe flow is an issue, but I thought they would like at least one place in the tank...
